Today's tour leads us through the Vosges mountains into the French Jura massif to Lac de Saint-Point, the third largest natural lake in France.
We continue through the Jura massif, along Lake Geneva and approach the northern French Alps. At Grenoble, we leave the valley of the Isère and climb the high plateau of the Vercors, a pre-Alpine massif crossed by deep gorges and valleys. At the southern end of the plateau, we meander over the wonderfully winding Col de Rousset down into the Drôme valley, where we reach our base hotel for the next few days of touring.
Today's tour takes us to the "Grand Goulets", one of the most impressive gorge areas in the Alpine region. At depths of up to 600 m, rivers run through the enormous mountain landscape, wild rapids and thunderous waterfalls pour over the rugged rocks. We explore the plateau and the regional nature park of Vercors and visit the centuries-old, picturesque little town of Pont-en-Royans.
Today's tour takes us to the Département Ardèche and the fascinating beauty of the 300 m deep Gorges de l'Ardèche, one of the few naturally formed canyons in Europe, awaits you. The tour leads us along well constructed, grippy and wonderfully winding roads directly above the rock face and provides a fantastic panoramic view of the cliffs and ledges of this gorge.
Before we start our tour together, we experience the unique flair of a French weekly market, far away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist attractions. A variety of delicious and fragrant local produce awaits us, such as goat cheese, lavender honey, olives, nougat, Clairette de Die and lots of regional fruit and vegetables.
After the joint stroll, we will set off to explore the region of "Le Diois", and we will visit the site where an earthquake in 1442 caused a huge rock fall.
Today we drive one of the most varied mountain routes to the 1909 meter high summit of Mt. Ventoux. Well paved, winding roads lead us through wild, untouched nature and a barren rocky landscape with breathtaking views all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
After we left the beautiful Drôme valley near Valence, we go northwards again through the Rhône plain. We cross the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region on winding secondary roads.
Today, the route takes you on winding side roads through the Jura mountain range, an undiscovered paradise in the heart of Europe. Over small passes with an endless number of bends we approach the original starting point of our journey in Breisgau again.
9 exciting driving days are behind us and with them 2550 driving kilometres with endless experiences and impressions. No goodbye forever, the next adventure is already waiting for us!
