A journey through the Baltic States is a journey within Europe and yet a journey into the "unknown". 3 countries, 3 different views, 3 different languages and yet they have one thing in common - they have a unique history and are full of contrasts.

Our tour will be a journey through time, where past and present collide strongly.
The daily stages are up to 360 km long and require a good physical condition. The tyres should still have sufficient tread and good equipment should be available for possible rainy days. We ride on roads in good condition, in order to get to the real insider tips we can optionally include smaller sections on unpaved roads.
Our tour begins with a night ferry crossing from Kiel to Klaipeda. Relaxed and full of excitement, we set off on a journey through the up-and-coming Baltic States.
The meeting point for our tour is Kiel. Here our ferry crossing with DFDS to Klaipeda starts. After check-in we have the opportunity to drink a toast to the upcoming holiday in a relaxed atmosphere at the bar.
In the afternoon we reach Klaipeda and after check-in at the hotel we have the opportunity to explore the beautiful old town of Klaipeda.
Today we visit the Zemaitija National Park and visit the Cold War Museum. Here is the former Soviet missile station, a total of 4 nuclear missiles, aimed at the capitals of Europe, were ready for action at any time. Afterwards we cross the border to Latvia and will reach Ventspils in the afternoon.
In Latvia, a green country at the Baltic Sea with endless forests, untouched nature and a peaceful country life awaits us. Past long sandy beaches and small seaside resorts we reach Kolkas rags, the most distinctive cape of the Latvian coast. In the afternoon we are in the famous spa town of Jurmala and today ends in Sigulda.
Our tour begins with a short visit to the legendary bobsleigh and racing sled run. 1200 m long and peppered with 16 curves, top speeds of up to 125 km/h can be reached here. Built to host competitions, it will be a personal competition for us, because we will run it, metre by metre. Today we reach Estonia, a modern country with perfect roads. It is the charm of this country that the landscape and the construction of the houses remind very much of the Scandinavian countries. The language and writing is a colourful mix of Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish.
On small side roads we ride along the coast of Lake Peipsi and cross the Lahemaa National Park. A stop at Jägala Waterfall awaits us and in the early afternoon we reach Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. During an evening walk through Tallinn we explore the city and visit the modern memorial of the Estonia, which reminds us of the ferry accident in 1994. Today's daily stage will be shorter, giving us more time to experience the Old Town.
Winding roads lead us from Tallinn to Haapsalu. After lunch and a short visit to the medieval castle we ride through the forests of Estonia to Pärnu, the most important seaside resort on the Estonian coast.
We say goodbye to Pärnu and ride south along the sea coast to Riga. Our way leads us to the Latvian border. We spend the lunch break at Mr. Münchhausen's house: the Latvian open-air museum is a former estate of Jacobine von Dunten, the wife of the credible baron. Experience a city that never sleeps and where small alleys always provide surprising impressions.
We ride on small side roads with many curves, among others the historic Berzhinka, a former Rally Special Stage, and the Old Moletai Road, which is one of the most beautiful roads in the Baltic States. In the afternoon we reach Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Today a program of the extra class expects us. Our tour guide will show you the most beautiful corners of his hometown, a walk in the evening through the romantic Old Town and a dinner in one of the favourite restaurants of our tour guide will round off the day perfectly.
Today's tour leads us to southern Lithuania. First we will visit the picturesquely situated moated castle in Trakai and then we will take winding roads to the river Memel. Only a few kilometres further on, we experience a journey back in time: the Grutas Open-Air Museum offers a huge collection of sculptures, monuments and paintings from the Soviet era, which were removed from the streets of Lithuania after 1990. We end the day in Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania.
Today's tour leads on small side routes through unspoilt nature along the Memel, off the beaten track there is a lot to discover. We spend our lunch break very close to the border between Lithuania and the Russian region Kaliningrad, where you can already feel more of East Prussia than of Lithuania. From here it is only 90 km to Klaipeda, where our journey began a few days ago.
A visit to the Curonian Spit is a "must" for every traveller in the Baltic States. Because of its high sand dunes it is affectionately called the "Sahara of Lithuania". A small ferry takes us to the spit side of the Curonian Lagoon. Beautiful landscapes accompany us to Nida (Nida), the capital of the spit. We enjoy a walk on the highest dune and visit the summer house of Thomas Mann. From the spit we ride directly to the ferry, which brings us back to Kiel overnight.
Arrived in Kiel it is time to say goodbye today. Exciting days lie behind us and with it 3100 riding kilometres. No farewell forever, the next adventure is already waiting for us!
