A challenging motorcycle tour on partly unpaved Jeepp pistes and over high passes. There is an additional risk due to riding on the left and the lower oxygen intake at high altitude. Safe driving skills are required.
Region: We are located in the middle of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh State and Ladakh.
While the green Kullu Valley is relatively densely populated by predominantly Hindus, it becomes drier, higher and lonelier towards Lahaul and Ladakh. The people in the high mountain desert are predominantly Buddhist and there are countless ancient monasteries that invite you to visit them.
While in the southern part of Himachal, especially during the monsoon season, there can be heavy rainfall, precipitation in Lahaul and Ladakh is very rare. Temperatures range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius during the day, and at night it can get quite cold, even below freezing point.
Dangers: During the tour we are constantly in the mountains at an altitude between 2000 and 6000 meters.
Even though we work with trained guides and take every precaution on our tours to prevent emergencies, dangers in the mountains can never be ruled out. Again and again, weather changes, landslides (especially during the monsoon season) or accidents can occur and you should always be aware of this.
We reserve the right, due to climatic conditions or for organizational reasons, to change the tours on site in a way that is safest for all participants.
Tour is available for group bookings on individual dates from mid June to the end of September
Mobility: The offer is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. Please contact us for more information.

Buddhist monasteries, remote mountain lakes and high pass roads will characterize the days during the motorcycle tour through the lunar landscape of Ladakh.

Between 100 and 200 km are covered daily on our Royal Enfields. Overnight stays are in comfortable hotels and sometimes in secluded tent camps.

The crowning finale is the ride on the Manali-Leh Highway and on to Dharamshala - the Dalai Lama's seat of government.

Travel plan:

Day 1 Arrival

You arrive in Delhi at the international airport and take the connecting flight to Leh in the early morning. Here you will be welcomed by our team and accompanied to the hotel. Today is completely dedicated to acclimatization and recreation.

If you like, we can take an easy walk through Leh. In the evening there will be a briefing on the tour with the whole team. Together we will end the evening with a welcome dinner.

Overnight stay in a hotel in Leh, (3,550 m)

Day 2 Takeover of the motorcycles

After a short introduction to the technique of the motorcycles we will take a "warm-up ride through the Indus Valley" today and combine it with some sightseeing. We first visit the villages of Stok, Matho and Hemis with their famous monasteries and then continue on the other side of the Indus River to visit the Thikse Monastery and Shey Palace. The tour is quite tranquil and a perfect introduction to our tour through the high mountain desert.

Overnight stay in a hotel in Leh, 115 km ride

Day 3 towards Kashmir

We descend into the western Indus Valley with visits to the ruins and temples of Basgo's ancient Royal Palace and the impressive Snake Buddha statue at Likir Monastery. Today we ride our Royal Enfields on narrow mountain roads over a nameless mountain pass to Hemis Shupakchen, a sacred ancient juniper forest and a small traditional village in the Sham Valley. Our destination today is the oasis of Alchi. Between apricot trees there is a cosy inn near the oldest monastery in Ladakh, which now houses a museum with elaborately restored murals. Overnight stay in the inn in Alchi, 116 km ( 3.100m )

Day 4 Over the highest pass in the world

We ride over the "highest pass in the world", the 5604 meter high Kardung La. Even though it may not really be the highest pass in the world by now, today is a real highlight when going up high. The descent into the vast desert of the Nubra Valley is also spectacular. Here we visit the ancient and remote Diskit Monastery. We spend the night in an inn in the oasis Hunder, which is surrounded by sand dunes.

Overnight stay in the Nubra Valley in the inn, Hunder 200 km

Day 5 Exploration of the Nubra Valley

We take a day trip through the Nubra Valley and ride to the hot springs in Panamik, visit the Samsthangling in Summor village and from here hike to Yarab Tso Lake. If there is time and desire, we can also make a detour to the isolated Ensa monastery. We end the evening in the peaceful atmosphere of the garden of our inn.

Overnight stay in Hunder at the inn, 126 km (3,000 m)

Day 6 To Lake Pangong

From the Nubra Valley we follow the Shyok River to the blue-greenish shimmering Pangong Lake. 70% of the magical lake is located in Tibet. We will spend the night in a deluxe camp directly on the shore of the lake near Merak.

Overnight stay at Deluxe Camp on Pangong Lake, 193 km (4,300 m)

Day 7 Over the Chan La Pass

From Lake Pengong, with detours to the Shashukul and Trakthok monasteries, we ride over the Chan La Pass (5300 meters) to Sakti. Overnight stay in a hotel in Sakti, (138km)

Day 8 To Lake Tsomoriri

Today we ride into the eastern Indus valley to the Mahe bridge. After we passed the check post it goes up again. We cross the Namshang Pass (5050 m) and reach the land of the Tibetan nomads at the turquoise shimmering Tsomoriri Lake. Our comfortable camp is located near the traditional village of Korzok with its monastery. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere on the shore of the lake. Today we will spend the night at 4500 meters! It's a good thing we've acclimatised now. On the way you can visit the Chemrey Gompa.

Overnight stay at Tsomoriri Lake in Deluxe Camp, 190 km (4,500 m)

Day 9 To Lake Tsokar

We ride on tracks through the high mountain desert, past hot sulphur springs and over the 5,050m Namshang La Pass to our third lake, the salt lake Tsokar. This is a nature reserve with rare birds, the shy mongoose and the so-called kiang- the "wild donkey". Our camp is located 2 km from the lake, at the only fresh water source. Our last night in Deluxe Camp, this time even at 4600 meters, our highest camp.

Overnight stay at Tsokar Lake in Deluxe Camp, 85 km (4,600m)

Day 10 On the Manali Leh Highway

Today we reach the famous Manali Leh Highway and will cross three high mountain passes during the 225 km! At first, the route is straight as a die and new road through the Morrayplains. The way up to the 5060 meters high Lachung La is probably one of the most beautiful, but on bad ground. Good riding skills are required here. Shortly afterwards we cross the similarly high Nakeela Pass. We continue through the Sarchu Plain, where we cross the border to Himachal Pradesh and leave the region of Ladakh. After we have crossed the 4800 meters high Baralacha La, the first settlements and fields arrive with Darcha and Jispa. In Jispa we will spend the night in a deluxe camp.

Overnight stay in Deluxe Camp in Jispa, 225 km

Day 11 Arrival in Manali

From Jispa at 3300 meters, we cross the last pass, the notorious Rothang Pass and then continue down to Manali at 2000 meters. We leave the dry high mountain desert in which we have spent the last 10 days and now enjoy the green and wooded mountain landscape.

Overnight stay in a hotel in Manali, 138 km

Day 12 To Dharamshala

Partly on the highway, partly over small mountain passes, we ride through the beautiful mountain landscape of Himachal Pradesh to Mcleod Ganj, the seat of the Dalai Lama. We visit the Dalai Lama Temple and finish our last evening together with a delicious dinner. Overnight stay in the inn in Mcleod Ganj, 216 km

Day 13 Departure

Today we use the day to relax, go for walks and some shopping. In the afternoon you take the flight from Daramshala to Delhi. From here connecting flight to Germany.
