Over wonderful routes in Finland and Sweden this individual motorcycle tour leads you around the Gulf of Bothnia. You will pass pretty harbour towns, beautiful coastlines and one or the other bigger city. A wonderful mixture for a balanced motorcycle tour!

Tour character:

The daily stages are around 300 km. Thanks to the quiet roads and overall good road conditions, the distances are easily manageable. In total you will cover about 2,700 km on this tour. Here and there we offer you alternative routes to choose from.

Day 1: Arrival

Individual arrival in Lübeck-Travemünde, embarkation late in the evening and departure towards Helsinki at night (approx. 2.00 a.m. (Mondays) or 3.00 a.m. (Tuesdays to Sundays)). Overnight stay on board.

Day 2: At sea

Enjoy a relaxing day at sea. Overnight stay on board.

Day 3: Helsinki - Jyväskylä (about 280 km)

In the morning (about 9.00 am) arrival in Helsinki. If you like, take a look at the Finnish metropolis and make a stop at the cathedral, the harbour or the Felsenkirche. Then your eventful tour starts in northern direction. You will arrive in one of the most lake-rich regions of Finland. The further north you go, the lonelier the roads, forests and lakes become. The day's destination is Jyväskylä. The university town has numerous buildings by the architect and designer Alvar Aalto. Overnight stay in Jyväskylä.

Day 4: Jyväskylä - Vaasa (about 280 km)

It continues in a north-easterly direction. With Vaasa you reach a port city on the Gulf of Bothnia. Overnight stay in Vaasa.

Day 5: Vaasa - Oulu (about 330 km)

We continue north following the coast. Your day's destination, Oulu, is Finland's fifth largest city with a population of just under 200,000. Oulu is also known for its Air Guitar World Championship. Overnight stay in Oulu.

Day 6: Oulu - Luleå (approx. 260 km)

You follow the coast and cross the border to Sweden. With Luleå you reach your destination for today. Overnight stay in Luleå.

Day 7: Luleå - Umeå (approx. 290 km)

Your route now takes you south again, as far as Umeå. Umeå was European Capital of Culture in 2014 and is known for its lively music scene. Overnight stay in Umeå.

Day 8: Umeå - Sundsvall (approx. 300 km)

On the way to Sundsvall you should definitely make a detour to the Höga Kusten (High Coast). This beautiful coast is part of the World Heritage Site and is located in the area of Skuleskogen National Park. Overnight stay in Sundsvall.

Day 9: Sundsvall - Uppsala (approx. 320 km)

Today you will end your tour around the Gulf of Bothnia and reach Uppsala, a university town rich in tradition. In addition to the cathedral church, the castle, the university building, the botanical garden and the tumuli of Gamle Uppsala are also worth seeing. Overnight stay in Uppsala.

Day 10: Uppsala - Karlstad (approx. 330 km)

Today, the journey continues to Karlstad on the north bank of the Vänern river via attractive secondary routes. Here you can once again enjoy typical Swedish landscapes. If you like, you can then explore Karlstad. The Great Square (Stora Torget) is a characteristic feature of the centre. Overnight stay in Karlstad.

Day 11: Karlstad - Gothenburg (about 300 km)

Today you start your last stage and reach Gothenburg (Sweden), a lively port city. Overnight stay in Gothenburg.

Day 12: Departure

You still have time to take in Gothenburg. Then ride to the ferry port, embarkation and departure (approx. 18.45 (mo-fr) or 17.45 (sa+so)) towards Germany. Overnight stay on board.

Day 13: Arrival in Kiel

You will reach Kiel (approx. 9.15 am), where your journey ends.
