Day 2: Tbilisi - Omalo
Our guided motorcycle tour starts in the direction of Omalo along the green meadow landscapes of the Caucasus and past the crystal clear Sioni Lake in the Alasani Valley. In this fertile region, wine has been cultivated in Georgia for thousands of years and exported worldwide. Afterwards we ride on the highest and narrowest gravel road in Georgia, which winds through a beautiful, untouched mountain landscapes of the Caucasus, to the Abano Pass at an impressive 2926 meters above sea level. The route is very winding with numerous ups and downs and refreshing water crossings. At the end of this adventurous off road route through the so-called roller coaster of Tushetiens we reach the highlight of the day, the traditional village of Omalo. It is famous for its distinctive and well preserved 12th century fortified towers that guard the heart of the Caucasus.
Day 3: Omalo round trip
Enduro tour through the heart of the Caucasus: You ride your motorcycle up to 3200 meters altitude to enjoy the heavenly silence of the majestic Caucasus. We will visit the most remote villages of the area, giving us a glimpse of the past and allowing us to leave the hustle and bustle of life behind us for a moment. Experience the sincere hospitality of the locals, who live in the simplest of circumstances, yet radiate a contentment and serenity that is hard to find in today's modern, fast-paced world.
Day 4: Omalo - Sighnaghi
Off road tour to Sighnaghi: Discover the oldest wine region in the world on your motorcycle. The picturesque town of Sighnaghi, reminiscent of idyllic villages in Tuscany, lies secluded on a hill overlooking the Alasani Valley with fascinating views of the Caucasus mountain range. Let the day end at sunset with a glass of wine on the balcony of your hotel in Sighnaghi and all the exertions of the day are forgotten!
Day 5: Sighnaghi - Rustavi
Off road tour to Rustavi: Today an unforgettable, 138 km long ride through the steppe awaits you, which reminds you of a bizarre moon landscape with its barren desert character. The route leads to a forgotten rock monastery, a remote relic from the past with beautiful wall paintings from the Byzantine period. The monastery is regarded as an absolute insider tip and is only approached by a few off-road tours who know the area and not by mass tourism. In the afternoon we will visit the famous Dawit Garedscha Monastery, dating back to the 6th century, which is associated with the origin of Christianity in Georgia and has a particularly high religious and spiritual significance.
Day 6 Rustavi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi
Off road tour to Mtskheta: Today we have about 125 km of off-road terrain over the Trialeti mountain range on the program. The route consists of steep, rocky ascents and descents, river crossings and single treks through the forest. As a reward for the exertion, a hearty lunch will be served at the end of the day in the ancient city of Mtskheta. In the late afternoon we visit a world famous UNESCO cultural heritage site, the medieval cathedral Sveticxoveli.
Day 7: The old and modern city of Tbilisi/Tbilisi
A walk through history: After the rule of the Byzantines followed the Persian Kingdom, the Arab caliphate, the Khoresm Kingdom and then the Ottoman Empire. The small country in the Caucasus was also marked by the invasion of the Mongols and Tamerlans, the birth of Christianity and last but not least by the communist era of the Russian rulers. Each of these epochs has left its legacy in Tbilisi, which is visible in the oriental palaces, the magnificent orthodox churches, the madrasas (Koranic schools) and the famous sulphur baths. Since its foundation in 458, the history of today's city of Tbilisi, formerly Tbilisi, has been marked by constant change and turbulent historical events such as wars, economic uprisings and destruction and revival. For complete relaxation on the day off, we recommend a sulphur bath followed by a professional massage, only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. In the evening you can end the tour with a pleasant restaurant visit in one of the numerous top restaurants in the city.
Day 8: Tbilisi - Tabatskuri - Bakuriani
Today we continue our motorcycle tour to Bakuriani. We ride on rocky tracks through original forest landscapes, past ancient watchtowers to the Tskhratskaro Pass at 2454 meters. Afterwards we reach the volcanic plateau on which the deep blue Tabatskuri Lake is located. The impressive panorama of the Great Caucasus opens up to us from the Trialeti Mountains and if the weather conditions are good we can have a look at the Kasbek (5054m), the ice peak of Georgia.
Day 9: Bakuriani - Goderdzi Pass
Our Enduro adventure leads us on today's motorcycle tour through Georgia to the mountainous region of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and we have the opportunity to explore this beautiful area in the interior of the country. We ride along the mighty Kura River, past untouched meadow and forest landscapes, traditional villages and historic mountain monasteries. Our daily destination is the Goderdzi Pass at an altitude of 2304 m.
Day 10: Goderdzi Pass - Batumi
Today the motorcycle tour continues through the beautiful landscapes of Adjara and we reach the subtropical climate zone of the Black Sea coast where the city of Batumi is located. The route is varied, as we ride through mountain streams, forest passes and villages with simple wooden buildings, typical for this region. The incomparable, nationally famous hospitality of the local shepherds will surely remain in your memory for a long time, as will this whole exciting day full of sightseeing.
Day 11: Batumi
The last highlight of our motorcycle tour through Georgia is the visit of the city of Batumi. The modern city centre with its multinational architecture contrasts with ancient monuments like the Roman fortress Gonio Apsaros, 15km south of Batumi and a few kilometres from the Turkish border. Finish with a cup of strongly brewed Batumi coffee, try the delicious Ajarian cuisine and refresh yourself with a swim in the Black Sea to end this journey in a relaxed way.
Day 12: Return flight
Georgia is located in the Eurasian Caucasus between the Black Sea to the west, Russia to the north and Azerbaijan to the south. Georgia, the cradle of viticulture, is a Christian country and boasts sincere, warm hospitality and one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world, perfect for exploring by motorcycle.
Georgia lies at the crossroads of caravan and trade routes, which in the Middle Ages were important transport routes between Europe and Asia. The medieval traditions, which date back to the time of the famous Silk Road, can be felt everywhere. For a long time, Georgia was considered a strategically important hub for the world's trade routes, especially in its role as a significant base of the famous Silk Road, which is steeped in history and today provides a wonderful backdrop for adventurous motorcycle tours in Georgia.
Georgian hospitality is legendary. The conviction that guests are gifts of God and must be treated with appropriate reverence is firmly anchored in the national thinking of Georgians. The Georgian tradition of toasts (Georgians pride themselves on having invented them) combines poetry and philosophy.
Try the famous Georgian wines, delicious specialties lovingly prepared by hand such as Khachapuri, Hinkali, homemade sheep's cheese and the hearty, traditional mutton shashlik. Not only love goes through the stomach, but also the national spirit of a country can be better understood and taken to the heart by its variety of dishes.
Experience all facets of this amazing country on a guided motorcycle tour through Georgia!
