Itinerary:
DAY 1 - Arrival in Quito
DAY 2 - Quito
Quito is the capital of Ecuador. It is situated at an altitude of 2800 m and is therefore the highest capital in the world. From Quito you have a spectacular view to the southeast of the volcano Cotopaxi. The attraction is the old town from the 16th century, declared a world cultural heritage in 1979.
DAY 3 - Quito - Mitad del Mundo (center of the earth) - Santo Domingo
The Mitad del Mundo Monument is located about 23 kilometres north of Quito and marks the place where Charles Marie de La Condamine, with a French expedition in 1736, was the first European to determine the exact position of the equator (at 240 m). The way to our daily destination Santo Domingo (our stopover to the Pacific coast) is a biker's paradise with many curves.
DAY 4 - Santo Domingo - Bahia de Caraquez / Canoa Beach
Our journey continues towards and along the Pacific coast of Ecuador. The earthquake in 2016 has caused great damage in this holiday region. Our hotel was spared and completely renovated. We will ride on the "Panamerican Highway" and during the tour we will come across this dream road again and again.
DAY 5 - Canoa - Puerto Cayo
Our journey continues along the Pacific coast until we reach Puerto Cayo. Directly at the beach we can watch the waves of the Pacific breaking in the bay in the evening.
Our hotel is the first on the spot and will spoil us with original Ecuadorian cuisine.
DAY 6 - Puerto Cayo - Quevedo
We leave the first of Ecuador's four worlds, the Pacific coast, and head east. The last overnight stay before we enter the second world of Ecuador, the Andes. Quevedo is also called the Chinatown of Ecuador, let us be surprised.
DAY 7 - Quevedo - Baños de Agua Santa
The ride to Banos is incredibly varied and, like all the sections, a firework of curves. There is actually no straight line longer than 1 km in Ecuador. From now on we will also gain height.
The highest point of the tour with over 4000m will be reached in Quilotoa, where we will visit the volcanic crater lake. Then the day's destination Banos lies again a little bit lower on approx.1800 m. The city is culturally very inviting, with a beautiful church.
If you want to jump into one of the many springs, please feel free.
DAY 8 Day of rest
Motorcycle free day in Baños de Agua Santa. You can simply relax in Baños de Agua Santa, or experience adventure with us with Zip-Lining, Pailon del Diablo - (Devil's Waterfall), or
over a canyon...
DAY 9 - Baños de Agua Santa - Cuenca
We leave the idyllic Banos to reach the Andean metropolis of Cuenca. A wonderful motorcycle day awaits us, with many curves, mountain roads and the Panamericana. Cuenca is probably the most European city in Ecuador, you actually have the feeling of being in Madrid or Milan...and there are a lot of culinary delights to discover and numerous boutiques.
DAY 10 - Cuenca - Macas
The third world of Ecuador awaits us, the Amazon region. The tropical rain forest, the lungs of the earth. Not only the landscape changes drastically, but also the people. Looks and way of life have adapted to nature. Ecuador's main artery, the highway E 45, brings us to Macas. The word highway can be deceptive, even today there are thousands of curves on our way...
the biker heart beats faster.
DAY 11 - Macas - Puerto Misahualli
We continue through the rainforest, past bananas and cocoa plantations. In this region the farmers still live for and with everything that is necessary for life, luxury is certainly not one of them. A cow, a pig, a roof over your head and cocoa. Everyone seems to be satisfied. Puerto Misahualli is located on the Napo River, in the afternoon we will board a boat.
We will be watched very closely by the monkeys at the harbour.
They are funny fellows and very tricky in stealing everything that glitters.
The morning before departure we will visit our sponsor school as part of our school project.
DAY 12 - Puerto Misahualli - Quito
The last riding day, at the end of this day, we will put the BMW's back into the stable of our BMW partner in Quito. Before that, however, we will once again take turns and climb up the mountains around Quito. For a short time we climb the 4000m limit again.
DAY 13 - Departure Mariscal Sucre International Airport Quito
Unfortunately the tour is now over. But we hope that we have become friends and will meet outside of the tours.
The flights from Quito often start very late, it is recommended to book another day at the hotel.
We say goodbye at the hotel checkout around noon.
We will of course help with any extended booking, at no extra cost.
