Namibia Classic Offroad Motorcycle Tour

Your Namibia motorcycle tour begins with your individually booked overnight flight from Germany to Windhoek. As you travel through the night toward southern Africa, you can already look forward to the coming stages through desert, canyon, and Damaraland.

Your offroad motorcycle tour of Namibia kicks off at our own Windhoek Mountain Lodge in the southern Auas Mountains. After arriving at the airport and your transfer, a pool, sweeping views, and a first sundowner await you before the legendary bushman fondue.

Today is all about your rental motorcycle: after a detailed trip briefing and an introduction to the bike and GPS device, you head out on a roughly 100-kilometer familiarization ride so you're perfectly prepared for the stages ahead.

Today your enduro tour of Namibia takes you over relatively flat gravel roads into the southeastern part of the country. Thornbush savanna, Karakul sheep, and the Auob Valley accompany you all the way to the Kalahari Anib Lodge near Mariental.

Through the western Kalahari, past the green oasis of Stampriet, the route leads you to Giant's Playground and the quiver tree forest near Gariganus. Before continuing toward Sossusvlei, you spend the night in simple guest chalets amid the rocky landscape.

After your Kalahari Desert stage, you leave Keetmanshoop behind and, via lonely mountain panoramas, reach the mighty Fish River Canyon — at over 100 kilometers long, the second-largest canyon in the world. Overnight stay right on the Orange River.

A canoe trip on the Orange River opens the day, before this enduro off-road stage takes you via Rosh Pinah, the Neisip plain, and the majestic Tiras Mountains to Helmeringhausen — your accommodation amid the vastness of the Namib.

Between camel thorn trees and mountain ranges at the edge of the Namib, your Namibia motorcycle round trip continues to the impossibly tall sand dunes near Sesriem, where your lodge lies close to Sossusvlei.

Early in the morning you head out in 4x4 vehicles to the red dunes of Sossusvlei, since motorcycles aren't permitted in the national park. In the afternoon, the route continues via Solitaire to a pool lounge near the Rotstock Mountains.

Crossing the Tropic of Capricorn and the Kuiseb Canyon, you traverse the Namib-Naukluft National Park all the way to the Atlantic coast. Oryx antelope, springbok, and mountain zebras accompany this off-road stage until you reach Swakopmund.

A free day in Swakopmund: the Crystal Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the historic Jetty, and the colonial-style old town all invite you to stroll around. Optionally, a quad bike excursion into the dunes south of town beckons.

Along the salt road through Dorob National Park, this offroad stage into Damaraland takes you about 200 kilometers north, past the Messum Crater and the rugged Brandberg massif, to cozy accommodation in Uis with a pool and an evening braai.

Dry riverbeds home to desert elephants, oxide-red table mountain landscapes, and rare black rhinos define this stretch of your Namibia motorcycle round trip through northern Damaraland, before you reach Grootberg Lodge overlooking the Klip River Canyon in the afternoon.

Over the winding Grootberg Pass and the Etendeka Plateau, this off-road stage passes the dry Huab riverbed and the Ugab Terraces before reaching the striking table mountain of Mount Etjo and its large game reserve.

A game drive in search of giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and elephants rounds off your stay at Mount Etjo Game Reserve, before you head back via Omaruru and Otjimbingwe to Windhoek Mountain Lodge for a convivial farewell barbecue with sundowner.

Your last day in Windhoek is free to spend as you like: street cafes, bazaars, and handicraft stalls invite you to browse, before a timely transfer to the airport prepares you for your flight home.

Your return flight lands in Germany in the morning, often followed by onward travel by train or plane to your hometown. Memories of the off-road terrain of Namibia, the Fish River Canyon, and Damaraland will stay with you long after your Namibia Classic has ended.
