Balkan Motorcycle Tour – Adventure through 9 Countries

After breakfast in Zabljak the Durmitor stage continues to the Tara Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe. Via Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, the group crosses the border into Albania. Overnight in Shkodra. Approx. 260 km.

This Albania motorcycle tour continues across the country towards Tirana, the Albanian capital. Via Burel the route heads to the North Macedonian border at Debar, where the next hotel sits on the shores of Lake Ohrid. Approx. 240 km.

Leaving North Macedonia we ride via the motorway to Grevena towards Greece, then over the country's highest pass, the Katara Pass (1,690 m), to Kalampaka and the world-famous Meteora monasteries. Overnight at the foot of the cliff-top churches. Approx. 280 km.

In the morning a circuit around the Meteora monasteries, then riding through the Greek mountain country to the island of Lefkada, connected to the mainland by a swing bridge. The evening ends in typical Greek style at a taverna. Approx. 280 km.

Leaving Lefkada we ride the coastal road towards Patras, where the ferry to Ancona awaits. En route we cross the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, linking the Peloponnese to the Greek mainland. Departure approx. 10 pm. Approx. 200 km.

The overnight ferry reaches Ancona around 4 pm. Overnight near the port city before this on-road motorcycle tour continues north through Italy on your own machine.

Along the Apennines through the Marche, Umbria and Tuscany provinces, past Florence, the route heads towards the Po plain. Overnight in the hills south of Bologna. Approx. 350 km.

Via motorway across the Po plain towards Padua; north of Venice we leave the motorway and tour on winding country roads with mountain passes near Cortina d'Ampezzo. Approx. 350 km.

From Cortina d'Ampezzo the final stage of this Balkan motorcycle tour crosses the Eastern Alps back to the start hotel in the Salzburger Land. After over 4,000 kilometres through nine countries, some of the finest riding still lies ahead. Approx. 300 km.
