The east coast regions around Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are most pleasant to ride in the Australian autumn (March–May) and spring (September–November). The Top-Down crossing from Darwin is tied to the dry season in the north and runs best from April to October, once the wet season in the Top End is over.
