Description

And although you will be riding on several unpaved roads, some sandy and some gravel, you will also get to know South Africa as a travel destination, visit several sights and enjoy the warm hospitality of South Africa.

The motorcycle tour starts in Cape Town. You will visit Table Mountain and ride the best routes in the Cape region, such as the Peninsula Route and Chapmans Peak Drive. Also included is a whale watch in Hermanus or a visit to an ostrich farm. But most importantly, the tour plan includes numerous off-road routes such as those around Malagas, in the Outeniqua and the Cederberg Mountains, in the Tankwa Karoo as well as the old ox & post wagon routes in the Little Karoo region. And we ride spectacular mountain passes like the Montagu Pass and Prince Alfred Pass, the Swartberg Pass and Bains Kloof Pass. We then recover from the (riding) experiences of the day in the comfortable, carefully selected accommodation, where we can relax by the pool and be looked after by the hosts.

After 11 days, filled with beautiful coastal roads, exciting gravel roads and a variety of sights, the motorcycle tour "Cape Karoo Adventure" ends and leaves you with plenty of impressive experiences in the luggage back home!

Itinerary (subject to change):

Day 1: Start of tour in Cape Town

Today your motorcycle tour starts in Cape Town. If the weather cooperates, a visit to Table Mountain, the landmark of the vibrant city on the Cape, is also a highlight on the program.

Day 2: Day tour around Cape Town, 150 km

After we pick up our motorcycles we ride the Cape Peninsula Route, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the country. Of course we will also stop at the Cape of Good Hope.

Day 3: Cape Town - Malaga, 300 km

We leave Cape Town via the spectacular Clarence Drive along False Bay, one of the top motorcycle routes in the Cape region. We stop in Hermanus, known as the spot for whale watching. From Bredasdorp we take the gravel road along the Breede River to Malagas.

Day 4: Malagas - Louvain, 370 km

First we cross the Breede River, then we follow the gravel road to the N2. Until Heidelberg we stay on tarred roads, then we take the unpaved old post route over the Gysmanshoek Pass. On the other side we arrive in the Klein Karoo region. Several offroad sections parallel to the R327 later we reach Mossel Bay and George. From here we ride the gravelled Montagu Pass to Louvain.

Day 5: Around Louvain, 280 km

Today we have a number of passes on the agenda, both sealed and unsealed. First up is the Outeniqua Pass, a tarred route to get you in the mood. With the Seven Passes Road, which is popular with off-road fans, we have several gravel kilometres before we reach Knysna. Over the also unpaved Prince Alfred Pass we ride to Avontuur and from there on "normal" roads back to Louvain.

Day 6: Louvain - Oudtshoorn, 200 km

Direct riding would have been quick in Oudtshoorn - but we take the big detour via De Rust and the Swartberg mountain region. After all, spectacular motorcycle routes like Meiring's Poort Road and the Swartberg Pass await us here, which we approach from the north side (Prince Albert). In Oudtshoorn there is time to visit an ostrich farm.

Day 7: Oudtshoorn - Matjiesfontein, 170 km

The day starts with more gravel as we ride on the Groenfontein Road through the Kango Valley. At Calitzdorp we are greeted by the famous R62, which we follow until we reach the turn-off for Seweweeks Poort Pass - which is actually a gorge. Until Laingsburg we enjoy the great off-road track before we ride the last part on asphalt to Matjiesfontein.

Day 8: Matjiesfontein - Mount Ceder, 220 km

We ride through the Great Karoo until we turn onto the R354 to cross the Tankwa Plains. They lead us to the Cederberg Mountains and thus into a region that is also very popular with local off-road enthusiasts - in the evening you will know why!

Day 9: Mount Ceder - Clanwilliam, 120 km

"Off the beaten track" is how you could describe today's route choice. We pass Wupperthal, a settlement founded by German missionaries in 1830.

Day 10: Clanwilliam - Cape Town, 290 km

On our last day of riding we take a long detour back to Cape Town. For a change we enjoy the relaxed, beautiful coastal roads along the Atlantic Ocean to Cape Town.

Day 11: Departure from Cape Town

If you have not planned any additional days, you will fly back home from Cape Town today.
