Fjords, Fjells and Glaciers - Motorcycle Paradise Norway

M-ID: 2509 Facebook Twitter whatsapp Whatsapp email Email print Print

Most motorcyclists associate Norway primarily with the North Cape, the northernmost point of mainland Europe that can be reached by road. But as is so often the case, the most famous destination in a country is not necessarily the most beautiful.

Description

When Mother Nature distributed scenic beauty around the world, she was particularly generous in one area of Norway. Rough coasts, deep fjords, high mountains, glaciers, and imposing waterfalls characterize this area known as Fjord Norway.

Just as impressive and varied as the landscape are many of the roads that open up Fjord Norway to tourism and offer motorcyclists in particular an extreme amount of riding pleasure. And this is despite the fact that the maximum speed on Norway's roads is just 80 km/h.

To make the journey to Norway as comfortable as possible, we take the night ferry from Kiel to Oslo. Although this is reflected in the price of the trip, it saves us and you two additional 500 kilometers of motorway in Denmark. Furthermore, our price includes all ten ferry crossings within Norway.

-

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: To Kiel to the ferry.

Individual arrival at the Color Line terminal at the Norwegenkai in Kiel by 11 am at the latest! Meet the tour guides and board the ferry to Oslo together. Get to know each other on board and have dinner together in the buffet restaurant.

Note: For participants with a long journey we will gladly organize an overnight stay and breakfast in the GHOTEL hotel & living Kiel (surcharge in a double room 80 €, in a single room 100 € per person) where our tour guides are also accommodated. For this purpose, please enter the text "Overnight stay in Kiel" in the "Remarks" field when booking.

-

Day 2: From Oslo to Dalen.

After enjoying the rich breakfast buffet on board, we arrive in Oslo at 10 am. From here we will ride, for the most part on secondary roads, to the town of Dalen, located in the western part of the Telemark region, where we will spend the night in the Dalen Hotel, built in 1894 in the Swiss style.

-

Day 3: Via Lysefjord to Sauda.

Today's tour takes us first over mountains and past countless lakes to the eastern end of the Lysefjord. This fjord, which is a good 40 kilometers long and surrounded by extremely steep cliffs, will be crossed lengthwise by ferry. Then we continue along the west coast to Sauda, where we will spend the night in the Sauda Fjordhotell, built in 1914 Art Nouveau style.

-

Day 4: Across the Hardanger Fjord to Bergen.

On the way to today's destination, we cross the Røldalsfjellet and ride along the Sørfjord and the Hardangerfjord to the old Hanseatic city of Bergen. We will spend the night at the Hotel Clarion Admiral in the middle of the city and right by the harbor.

Before dinner, we will take a short walk through the fish market at the harbor and through the old German Hanseatic trading post Tyske Brygge.

-

Day 5: Through the fjord landscape to Sandane.

Our destination today is the traditional Gloppen Hotell in Sandane. On the way there we cross the Mas- and the Sognefjord with ferries, cross mountains and ride along countless lakes through the wonderful fjord landscape.

-

Day 6: Through the Geirangerfjord to Molde.

In the course of today's stage, we use a total of three ferry connections, whereby the one-hour trip through the Geirangerfjord, which is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, is the absolute highlight of the day. Today's destination is the Rica Seilet Hotel in the harbor town of Molde, famous for its unique architecture and fantastic views over the Romsdal Alps.

-

Day 7: Rest day.

Molde lends itself very well to a rest day, which is why we spend two nights at the Rica Seilet Hotel. As the saying goes, you rest, you rust, so a visit to the Romsdal Museum or a hike up Varden, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Molde and the Romsdal Alps, is a good option.

If you would also like to take a short tour on a rest day, we offer a short (approx. 150 km) round trip along the "Atlantic Road" with a visit to the fishing village of Bud.

-

Day 8: Trollstigen, Eagle Road and Dalsnibba...

On this day we take two of the most beautiful and most famous routes of Norway under our wheels. First, we ride over the Trollstigen before we enjoy the breathtaking view from Eagle Road down to the Geirangerfjord. No less impressive is the view from the 1495 meter high Dalsnibba, which we reach via a seven-kilometer toll road.

Tonight we will stay at Thon Hotel Jølster overlooking Jølstravatnet.

-

Day 9: Bøyabreen (glacier) and Sognefjellsveien.

Today we first visit Bøyabreen, an outlet glacier of Europe's largest continental glacier Jostedalsbreen. Afterward, we ride on the highest pass road of Norway with 1434 meters over the Sognefjell to Lom. There we visit the stave church built in the 12th century before we head for our destination today, the Bergo Hotel in Beitostølen.

-

Day 10: Via the Panoramavegen to Norefjell.

Today we cross Valdres on the Panoramavegen, a small private toll road that may not be paved all the way, but is easy to ride. We then pass Hallingdalselva and Lake Krøderen to our last stopover hotel, Quality Resort & Spa Norefjell.

-

Day 11: To Oslo for the ferry.

Although we have to be at the ferry terminal in Oslo at 12 o'clock, we use back roads as long as possible on our last leg in Norway. At 2 p.m. our ferry leaves Oslo, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the passage through the Oslofjord in daylight. Afterward, there is sure to be a place in the restaurant onboard where the group can say goodbye to each other in peace.

-

Day 12: The journey home.

After an extensive breakfast buffet, we arrive in Kiel at around 10 a.m. and start our individual journey home.

- We reserve the right to change the program, route, or accommodation. -
