Accommodation: |
Standard: Generally 3-star hotels, mostly in central locations |
Comfort: 4-star hotels or upscale room category in 3-star hotels |
As a general rule, comfortable hotels cannot be guaranteed in every location. While there is usually a wide range of hotels of all categories in the major cities and tourist centers, we have to switch to lower-classified hotels in smaller towns or rural areas. We then try to compensate for this by offering a higher room category, for example. |
Should you wish to upgrade to a higher-class hotel, this is usually possible in the larger cities. Please do not hesitate to contact us! |

Description
This motorcycle tour creates a link between the province and some of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe - the old Hanseatic cities of Gdansk, Riga, Kaunas, Tartu, and Tallinn attract visitors with their wide range of cultural attractions, lively atmosphere, and wonderful sights. At the same time, you can enjoy the solitude of nature on your trip: The lakes and forests of Masuria, the course of the River Memel, the Curonian Spit, Kurzeme (Courland), Estonian Switzerland, and Lake Peipus offer motorcycling areas with fascinating landscapes to the right and left of the road.
-
Tour character:
On this motorcycle tour, you will cover around 1,800 km through the most beautiful landscapes of Poland and the Baltic States. As we avoid highways and major main roads, the route is mostly on secondary roads, some of which are small and narrow. The road surface is generally good, but here and there a little care may be required. We make sure that the routes are asphalted, but there may be cobblestones or gravel on very short sections. On many days we offer you alternative or additional routes.
-
Highlights:
- Varied tour with your own motorcycle
- Gdansk and the Marienburg
- a whole day for Masuria
- Dune landscapes on the Curonian Spit
- lonely roads on Lake Peipus and in Lahemaa
- flying visits to Tallinn and Riga
-
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
Individual arrival in Gdansk. The former Hanseatic city is a wonderfully restored old town. The most famous sights are the old Crane Gate, the town hall, the mighty St. Mary's Church, and the Long Market with the Neptune Fountain. A visit to the Solidarnosc Center is also worthwhile. Nice cafés and restaurants on the banks of the Motława also tempt you to stop for a bite to eat. Overnight stay in Gdansk.
-
Day 2: Gdansk - Marienburg - Masuria (approx. 290 km)
You first travel to Marienburg (Malbork). If you wish, you can take time to visit the huge castle, which was the seat of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order in the 14th and 15th centuries. On your onward journey to Masuria, you will get a first impression of the lake-rich landscape and the Masurian villages. Overnight stay in/near Lötzen.
-
Day 3: Masuria
Round trip through Masuria, the "land of a thousand lakes". You will enjoy the ride through the Masurian countryside, the tour is characterized by beautiful avenues. Small villages and towns invite you to stop off. In Lötzen (Gizycko), for example, there is the Boyen Fortress and the swing bridge, which is rare in Europe. Heiligelinde (Swieta Lipka) is a famous place of pilgrimage with a baroque Jesuit church. Rastenburg (Ketrzyn) or Dönhoffstädt Castle could also be on your program. Overnight stay in/near Lötzen.
-
Day 4: Masuria - Kaunas (approx. 210 or 240 km)
You travel through eastern Poland and southern Lithuania. This region attracts with its rural charm, gently rolling meadows and fields, and beautiful avenues. Here and there a small village, a stork's nest. You reach Kaunas. The second largest city in Lithuania is considered the cultural center of the country. Worth seeing is the old town at the confluence of the Memel and Neris rivers with the castle ruins from the 13th century.
-
Day 5: Kaunas - Klaipeda - Nida (approx. 290 or 310 km)
The route includes small towns that are not on the big tourist maps. Castles and castle mounds along the Memel River mark the old line of defense of the Lithuanians against the Teutonic Knights. If you like, you can make a stopover in the pretty old town of Klaipeda (Memel). Then take the ferry to the Curonian Spit and travel through sparse forests, over gently undulating dune tops, and always with a view of the lagoon to Nida (Nidden). Here, the Thomas Mann House on the Schwiegermutterberg - the view of the lagoon is legendary - and the old spa cemetery around the small church is well worth a visit. Cafés and restaurants invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Perhaps take a walk to the Parnidden dune at sunset. Overnight stay in Nida.
-
Day 6: Nida - Palanga - Kuldiga - Riga (approx. 420 km)
You start your return journey via the spit road and ride, partly along the coast and through the tranquil Kurzeme (Courland), to Riga. A contrasting program if you have just come from the spit! Riga is the largest city in the Baltic States: lively, historic, and at the same time modern and friendly. Overnight stay in Riga.
-
Day 7: Riga - Gauja National Park - Tartu (approx. 260 km)
You ride to the Gauja National Park, the landscape of which is dominated by the Gauja meandering through the rock. The course of the river is framed by sandstone cliffs, sandbanks, grottos, and caves. Turaida Castle (Treyden) near Sigulda or Cesis (Wends) with its massive castle are ideal places to take a break. Your destination for the day is Tartu: you can explore the Cathedral Hill with the ruins of the cathedral church, the university, the Angel's Bridge and the Devil's Bridge, the observatory, and the town hall on an evening tour. Overnight stay in Tartu.
-
Day 8: Tartu - Lake Peipus - Lahemaa National Park - Tallinn (approx. 350 km)
We head to Lake Peipus - a wonderful motorcycling area. The expansive lake forms the border with Russia. From there we head into the Lahemaa National Park. Wonderful routes! If you prefer a shorter stage, you can ride right across the Estonian province to the Estonian capital Tallinn (approx. 200 km). After your arrival, you can discover the medieval old town on a tour. The cityscape is characterized by winding cobblestone streets and pointed gabled merchants' houses. Overnight stay in Tallinn.
-
Day 9: Departure
Ferry crossing to Helsinki, change of ferry port, and embarkation on the ferry to Germany. Departure (approx. 17.00 hrs). Overnight stay on board.
-
Day 10: Arrival in Lübeck-Travemünde
After a day at sea, you will reach the port of Lübeck-Travemünde in the evening (approx. 21.30 hrs), where your journey ends.
