Day 2: Windhoek / Auasberge (Windhoek Mountain Lodge)
Arrival and pick up by us from the international airport, which is located about 45 km outside Windhoek due to the mountainous landscape. After a short visit to the city, we go directly to our "Windhoek Mountain Lodge" for brunch and relaxation. In the afternoon there will be a travel briefing and we will finish the first evening with our legendary "Bushman-Fondue".
-
Day 3: Windhoek / Auasberge (Windhoek Mountain Lodge)
Well recovered & acclimatized we dedicate today to practice. There will be a briefing on the motorcycles and the corresponding GPS. Afterward, we go on a half-day ride as a first familiarization tour to get used to the road conditions and the technique. In the afternoon there will be enough time to internalize the first day of riding and to relax over a good dinner.
-
Day 4: Windhoek - Namib Desert (Namib Desert Lodge)
Today the first stage is on the program. We start not too early and ride on wide, well-paved gravel roads through the Khomas Highlands towards the southwest. Via the Spreetshoogte Pass with its gigantic viewpoint, we reach the Namib Desert, at the edge of which - close to the petrified dunes - is our accommodation for today, the "Namib Desert Lodge".
-
Day 5: Namib Desert - Helmeringhausen (Helmeringhausen Adventure Camp)
Today's stage is characterized by the extreme landscapes of the Namib Desert. A large part of the route leads us exactly along the border between desert and highlands. On one side are the red dunes and on the other side are the bizarre Naukluft and Tiras mountains. The destination is the small desert town of Helmeringhausen, which brings back strong memories of the "Wild West".
-
Day 6: Helmeringhausen - Lüderitz Bay (Kratzplatz Guesthouse)
Today's destination is the small dreamy harbor town of Lüderitz. Here time seems to have stood still. Many of the houses still date back to the German colonial era, and also the abandoned diamond towns like Kolmanskoop with their completely preserved buildings remind us of the past. We spend the night in the rustic guesthouse "Kratzplatz" directly in the town. Temperatures on the coast are usually significantly colder than inland because of the cold Benguela Stream.
-
Day 7: Lüderitz - Orange River (Norotshama River Resort)
From Lüderitz to Noordoewer the road leads us, first on almost 120 km tarred road through the desert to Aus. From there we continue on the busy mining road to Rosh Pinah, the currently booming mining town in the south of Namibia. After a short fuel stop, we continue on one of the most beautiful stretches of the tour, always along the banks of the Orange River to the border town of Noordoewer, where we spend the night in small chalets directly on the river.
-
Day 8: Orange River - Namaqualand (The Houthoop Guest Farm)
Today we leave Namibia and enter South Africa. The formalities at the border are generally completed quite quickly so that we can now ride on the other bank of the Orange River parallel to the river again in a westerly direction. On small, only very rarely used roads we continue through the rocky deserts of the Richterveld. We pass old, mostly abandoned diamond mines and then reach the small, somewhat rakish harbor town of Port Nolloth in the afternoon. After a coffee break, we continue through the diamond area parallel to the Atlantic coast to our destination "Die Houthoop", a lonely guest farm on the edge of the Namaqualand. The fish specialties at the campfire are unique.
-
Day 9: Namaqualand - Doringbaai (Thornbay Accommodation)
The rolling, endless hills of Namaqualand dominate the landscape today. On small, only slightly paved roads we continue south, passing long-abandoned farms and seemingly extinct villages. Only at the end of the stage do we reach some civilization. At the mouth of the Olifant River with its huge irrigation projects, we reach the Atlantic Ocean, where we spend the night in the small coastal town of Doringbaai. The guesthouse "Thornbay" offers us a great view over the Atlantic Ocean, in a nearby pub, we let the evening fade away.
-
Day 10: Doringbaai - Cederberg Mountains (Mount Ceder Guestcottages)
We leave the Atlantic coast and ride inland towards the east. After a short time, we reach the large wine-growing areas of the Olifant River. From here we ride on winding gravel roads into the Ceder Mountains, whose sensational viewpoints let us stop and breathe again and again. We spend the night in great situated guesthouses in the middle of the Cederberg Mountains.
-
Day 11: Cederberg Mountains - Stellenbosch (Roosenwijn Guesthouse)
We continue south through the impressive landscape of the Cederberg Mountains and the huge orchards of Ceres until we arrive in the world-famous wine-growing areas of Stellenbosch. The route is very winding all day, and you really have to choose between riding or looking, as the scenery is also extremely varied and beautiful. Our destination is a lovely boutique hotel in the center of picturesque Stellenbosch.
-
Day 12: Stellenbosch - Hermanus (Windsor Hotel)
Today's route takes us east over the "Franschhoek Pass". We pass the "Theewaterkloof Dam", a huge water reservoir for Cape Town, and take a coffee break in the small artist town of Greyton, whose houses and old trees remind us of times long gone. From here we continue directly to "Cape Agulhas", the southernmost point of the African continent. This is also the geographical border between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. We continue along the coast on small gravel roads and reach our destination, the tourist town of Hermanus, whose Atlantic bay is famous for the regular visits of whales, around evening. Our hotel is located directly at the sea.
-
Day 13: Hermanus - Cape Town (ANEW Hotel Green Point, Cape Town)
Before we reach our big destination of the trip to Cape Town today, a visit to the "Cape of Good Hope" is on the program: Here the growing tourism in South Africa is already very noticeable. But: You simply have to have been there once! Approx. 230 km of fantastic coastal road including the world-famous "Chapmans Peak" are today the crowning conclusion of this motorcycle tour. Our hotel in Cape Town, the Anew Hotel, is located in the heart of the city in Greepoint, close to the famous stadium and the "Waterfront"...
-
Day 14: Cape Town (ANEW Hotel Green Point, Cape Town)
Today it is time to get to know Cape Town. The choice is large and the time is actually much too short. Whether Table Mountain or the completely restored harbor with its numerous stores and pubs, the Green Market with its many African traders, or Robben Island, the prison island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for more than twenty years - there is much to discover until we meet again in the evening for a joint final dinner in one of the good restaurants.
-
Day 15: Cape Town - Departure
Depending on your return flight, you may be able to end this beautiful journey with its many impressions in a leisurely manner. But by noon at the latest, we, unfortunately, have to vacate the rooms in the hotel... In any case, an airport shuttle leaves directly from the hotel.
-
Day 16: Arrival Germany
Arrival in Frankfurt/Main in the early morning.
