The ride will take you past Umiam Lake and finally to the small town of Cherrapunjee. Cherrapunjee was the “wettest place on Earth” till a few years back and the entire region is known for its waterfalls. Check into the hotel and later head out to view Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
-
Day 5: Cherrapunjee sightseeing – After a leisurely breakfast, take a short ride to a tiny village named Kongthong, also known as the “whistling village”, as the local villagers do not have traditional Indian or Western names, but their names are unique musical tunes. Meet the locals and learn a bit more about their unique way of life. Head back to Cherrapunjee and visit Mawsmai Caves and visit the other nearby waterfalls. Evening at leisure around a bonfire. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
-
Day 6: Cherrapunjee to Mawlynnong via Dawki – Start your ride and head to “Asia’s cleanest village”, Mawlynnong. Upon reaching the village, take a short hike to view a living root bridge.
