Motorcycle Tour Albania – Balkan Round Trip

The Albania motorcycle tour starts at the meeting point in Füssen in Allgäu. Via the Fernpass, Brenner and Pustertal the group reaches the Villach area in Austria – around 400 kilometres and just over five hours of riding for the first day of the Balkan tour.

On this Balkan motorcycle journey the route leads from Villach via Tarvisio in Italy and the Soca valley in Slovenia to the Croatian island of Krk – around 310 kilometres of twisty country roads and just over five hours of riding.

This Lake Shkodra circuit winds on small roads through Montenegro and back to Shkodra. In the afternoon there is time to explore the old town of Shkodra or simply to rest after the first stages of the journey.

This Albanian Alps motorcycle tour heads deep into northern Albania: along the Fierza reservoir on the single-track but paved roads SH30 and SH22, through remote and twisty hinterland to Bajram Curri.

In the morning this stage leads up the Valbona valley to where the paved road ends – pure quiet and views. Then the route continues via the SH23 along the Fierza reservoir onwards to Kukes.

This Lake Ohrid stage passes through a section of North Macedonia to reach Lake Ohrid. At the lower end of Pogradec's promenade, the hotel for the next two nights sits directly on the crystal-clear lake.

Today's route visits the Blue Eye spring and the southernmost tip of Albania, uses the small ferry at Butrint and follows the Ionian coast to Himare.

The Llogara Pass panorama road leads via Orikum, Vlora and Fier northward along the Albanian Adriatic to Durres. In the afternoon the group checks in for the ferry to Ancona in Italy.

After the ferry docks in Ancona this Balkan round trip continues via Italian motorways to the Modena area – a relaxed transit day after the intense Balkan stages.

This final stage of the Balkan motorcycle tour follows small roads along Monte Baldo and concludes with the Timmelsjoch pass to the last shared hotel in the Imst area in Austria, just before the end of the tour.

After breakfast this Albania motorcycle tour ends with the individual journey home. Those who wish can join the guides and ride back together to Füssen in Allgäu – around 3,800 kilometres lie behind the group.
