Lassithi, Nida & Matala, Bike Included

Arrive, saddle up, ride off: after a personal pickup at Heraklion airport you check into your room at the Anissaras Beach Motocamp right on the north coast. Over a shared dinner the guide runs through the first leg, before you swing onto the rental motorcycle the next morning. The days that follow combine winding mountain passes with short off-road tracks and quiet coastal stretches – from the Lassithi Plateau over the Nida Plateau to Matala and the south coast at Keratokambos.

Highlights

Lassithi Plateau

Endless hairpin bends climb up to the Lassithi Plateau. The group takes a break at a small mountain chapel before heading back to the coast via Mohos, with its lively Greek marketplace and Cretan cooking.

Nida Plateau & Zaros

Via Anogia the way climbs into the high mountains to the Nida Plateau, where the observatory is reachable in clear weather. An off-road stretch then drops down to Lake Zaros, famous for fish served fresh from the water.

Tripti Gorge on Crete

Crossing the island along the Messara Plain, the way passes through the little-known Tripti Gorge to a secluded beach – a genuine insider tip well off the main routes across the island.

Matala & its Caves

The fishing village of Matala, with its world-famous caves, is one of the most soulful places on Crete. Once a burial site, later a hippie refuge, it still charms every visitor today with its atmosphere.

South Coast Keratokambos

A sweeping downhill run of hairpin bends brings the group to the south coast at Tsoutsouros and Keratokambos. Little bustle, long sandy beaches and excellent food make this the perfect final stop.
