The Training Day
In the forest near Santarém the day covers manoeuvring in tricky situations, body position and traction, slow turns and obstacle avoidance, clutch and balance, emergency braking, plus powerslides and forester turns.
Almourol Castle
The second stage heads northeast into the North Alentejo, over fast tracks and forest paths. The high points are the wide views over the Tagus and a brief stop at Almourol Castle on its island in the river.
Serra de Aire and Nazaré
After a coffee at the salt mines of Rio Maior, the tracks of the Serra de Aire national park run straight through and out the other side toward Nazaré, famous for its record-breaking waves along that coast.
Serra da Estrela and Piodão
To the north lies the highest range in Portugal at 1,993 metres. Hidden in its valleys waits Piodão, a village on the World Heritage list built entirely of slate, as the destination for the day.
A Full Rest Day
