Transfagarasan, Transalpina & Apuseni

The Apuseni loop sets off between 9 and 10 a.m. from APUSENI LODGE Avram Iancu. You ride your own motorcycle on well-paved, winding mountain roads covering around 210 kilometres per stage, accompanied by a guide who speaks Romanian, English, German and French. The route runs via Alba Iulia and Sibiu to Sighișoara and on to the Transalpina pass road and the world-famous Transfagarasan pass road. Free luggage storage, six breakfasts and insolvency protection are included – all you need is riding experience and a good mood.

Highlights

Ride the Transalpina

The Transalpina pass road climbs to more than 2,100 metres through the Transylvanian Alps – a panoramic stretch with tight hairpins, cool mountain air and sweeping views over valleys and peaks.

Strolling Through Sibiu

Sibiu, the old Hermannstadt, sits at the geographical heart of Romania. On its beautiful market square you can stroll, browse small shops and let the cobbled old town lanes sink in over a coffee.

Bears by the Roadside

On the Transfagarasan pass road, wild Carpathian bears often stand right at the roadside – a rare encounter you can experience this close only on this stretch through the Southern Carpathians.

Wild Apuseni Mountains

From day one the Apuseni range shows its wild side: winding roads, dense beech forests and the chance to explore the Peștera Urșilor Chișcău bear cave on your own before the day is over.

Experience Sighisoara

Sighișoara, known in German as Schäßburg, greets you with a medieval upper town and a centre steeped in history – a charming stop on the way to the Transfagarasan, with time on the market square.
