Aviemore, Loch Ness & Aberdeen, 8 Days

The start is in Eindhoven: the approach leads to the ferry port at IJmuiden near Amsterdam. After boarding comes the booked two-berth interior cabin, half board is served on board, and overnight the DFDS ferry carries the group and the machines across to Newcastle.

After arriving in Newcastle the way heads north. The road follows the coast, past Alnwick and Scremerston, and crosses the Scottish border. By the afternoon the Edinburgh area is reached, where the first night on land is spent at the Holiday Inn.

Across the Firth of Forth bridges the way carries on north, past Perth and right through the Grampian Mountains. Remote single roads and wide high moorland shape the day, before Aviemore is reached in the afternoon, the base for the coming three nights.

Today the group rides without luggage: via Nairn out to the coast and on to Inverness, then along the Moray Firth to the Dornoch Firth and back across the Highlands to the base hotel in Aviemore. A loop between sea inlets, moorland and mountain roads.

The second loop out of Aviemore begins on the Malt Whisky Trail via Dufftown and runs north to the coast. From there it follows the Scottish Coastal Road towards Aberdeen and then returns inland to the base hotel.

From Inverness the road follows the shore of Loch Ness south to Fort Augustus. It then carries on via Fort William and the Queen Elizabeth National Park to the Glasgow area, where the night is spent at the Best Western Hotel Garfield.

The last riding day runs from Glasgow via Edinburgh and Jedburgh back across the Scottish border and on to the east coast at Newcastle. Late in the afternoon the ferry to Amsterdam is waiting there, and the second night at sea follows on board.

Early in the morning the ferry docks at IJmuiden. From there the way home runs through the Belgian Ardennes back to Eindhoven, with around 2,100 kilometres behind the group. Changes to programme, hotels and routing remain reserved.
