Self-guided through England and Wales

You make your own way to Hoek van Holland, where the ferry casts off around 10 pm; the night is spent in a two-berth inside cabin with shower and WC, and the machine travels on every crossing. On the ground come seven nights in mid-range hotels or B&Bs, with breakfast on every day. There is no group and no escort: a route description, GPS data, maps and one guidebook per room are supplied, and you set the pace yourself. Road conditions are good to very good throughout.

Highlights

Snowdonia National Park

Bare mountain ridges, waterfalls and Snowdon at 1,085 metres, the highest mountain in Wales, shape the sixth day. The partly winding route ends in Betws-y-Coed, a popular starting point for walkers.

The Pembrokeshire Coast

Cliffs, secluded bays and the shimmering Atlantic accompany the short stage via Fishguard and Cardigan to Aberaeron. Seabirds and viewpoints keep inviting a stop along the coast road all day.

Pen y Fan in the Beacons

On the way into Wales the route crosses heath and moorland around Pen y Fan, at almost 900 metres the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons. Tight bends and open expanses alternate throughout.

A Loop in the Cotswolds

Two nights in a row at Gloucester leave the third day luggage-free: 170 kilometres among limestone cottages, gentle hills and villages counted among the most English on the island, back to the same hotel.

Out on Your Own

You ride your own machine with no escort at all. A route description, GPS data and maps are supplied, so breaks, photo stops and detours are always yours alone to decide on as the day goes.
