East Prussia was once a famous landscape in the extreme east of Germany. But the myth lives on. Today, divided into Lithuania, Russia and Poland, the tripartite region is experiencing very different developments. In particular, Kaliningrad, which is now surrounded by EU external borders, with the former Königsberg, sometimes seems like another world. The different landscapes of the Curonian Spit, the Samland Coast, Masuria and Pomerania are all extensive, sparsely populated and lure you between the Baltic Sea coast and the lake district with beautiful natural impressions: steep coasts and endless beaches, gigantic dunes and light forests, tranquil avenues and gently undulating meadows - let nature take its toll on you along the route. In contrast, of course, you will also see cities like Memel, Königsberg and Gdansk - today Klaipeda, Kaliningrad and Gdansk. A tour of contrasts!

Tour character:

An adventurous tour through an interesting region! They mainly ride on country roads. In Kaliningrad in particular, but also in northern Poland, the road surface can be somewhat worse in places. All stages are nevertheless good and safe to ride. With quite short daily stages of less than 300 km there is still some room for individual detours. In Samland and Masuria, day trips can be made without luggage - you decide the length of the stages yourself on these days.

1st day: Arrival

Individual journey to Kiel, embarkation and departure (approx. 21.00 hrs) in the direction of the Baltic States. Overnight stay on board.

2nd day: Klaipeda

Arrival in Klaipeda (about 18.00 hrs). Then you have the opportunity to discover the former Memel on an evening tour. If you like, you can take a walk through the neat old town, stroll to the Theaterplatz with the famous Ännchen von Tharau fountain or to the old post office and finish the evening in one of the restaurants. Overnight stay in Klaipeda.

3rd day: Klaipeda - Curonian Spit - Svetlogorsk (about 140 km)

You cross over to the Curonian Spit and ride south on the well developed spit road. It goes through light forests, over gently undulating dune tops and again and again you have a view of the lagoon. During stops in the former fishing villages of Juodkrante (Black Town) and Nida (Nida) you will discover typical spit villages. In Nida, the Thomas Mann House on the mother-in-law hill - the view of the lagoon is legendary - and the old spa cemetery around the small church are particularly worth seeing. Especially impressive are the sand dunes in the south of Nida, which are among the highest dunes in Europe. Later crossing the border into Russia and riding to Svetlogorsk (noise). The seaside resort captivates with its many wooden villas, the steep coast, the beach promenade and the green location. The sophisticated seaside resort ambience of the 20th century can still be discovered in many places today. Overnight stay in Svetlogorsk.

4th day: Kaliningrad & Samland coast

In the morning optional excursion to Kaliningrad (Königsberg) - without motorcycle. The Königsberg Cathedral with the grave of the philosopher Immanuel Kant is one of the most important sights. In 1944 he suffered serious damage from bombing and fire, as did the entire city. After extensive restoration, it is now once again a characteristic feature of Kneiphof Island. The Königsberg Palace is no longer preserved, for example the House of the Councillors can be seen on this site today - a dilapidated Soviet building that was never used for structural reasons.

Nevertheless, you still have time for a motorcycle tour through the Samland. An excursion could take you to Jantarny, for example, the former Palmnicke. There is the only opencast amber mine in the world - Jantarny means translated as "made of amber". Overnight stay in Svetlogorsk.

5th day: Svetlogorsk - Cherniachowsk (about 210 km)

Today you ride along typical East Prussian avenues to Tschernjachowsk (Insterburg). The first stop is Polessk (Labiau) on the Deima river. Along the "Great Friedrichsgraben" you will reach the dreamy village of Matrossowo (Gilge) on the river of the same name. Here and there along your route you will come across a stork's nest or a dilapidated brick church. In Tschernjachowsk it is worth stopping at the castle ruins, where there is a small museum. Overnight stay in Cherniachowsk.

6th day: Cherniachowsk - Masuria (about 160 km)

Tour to the former Trakehnen stud farm. On the way you will pass Gusev (Gumbinnen), where the classicistic church from 1840 is located. Worth seeing is also the landmark of the city - the Gumbinn moose. You are crossing the Russian-Polish border. Via Goldap and through Masurian villages you will ride to your daily destination - Lötzen (Gizycko) or Nikolaiken (Mikolajki). In Nikolaiken it is recommended to take a walk through the town and visit the Protestant church. Lötzen is home to the Boyen fortress and the swing bridge, which is rare in Europe. Overnight stay in Masuria.

7th day: Masuria

Great round trip through Masuria, the "land of a thousand lakes". Small towns and cities invite you to stop off. Svieta Lipka is a famous pilgrimage site with a baroque Jesuit church. Rastenburg (Ketrzyn), the Wolfsschanze or Dönhoffstädt Castle could also be on your programme. In any case you will enjoy the ride through the Masurian landscape! The landscape to the right and left of the road is beautiful, old avenues characterize the tour. You determine the length of the stages yourself. Overnight stay in Masuria.

8th day: Masuria - Marienburg - Gdansk (approx. 280 km)

You will first ride to Marienburg (Malbork). Those who wish can take time to visit the huge castle of the Order, which was the seat of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order in the 14th and 15th centuries. After your arrival in Gdansk you can get acquainted with the city on an evening walk. The former Hanseatic city has a wonderfully restored old town. The most famous sights are the old crane gate, the magnificent right-handed town hall, the Marienkirche - one of the largest brick churches of all - and the Lange Markt with the Neptune Fountain. You can end the evening in one of the many restaurants along the Motlau river. Overnight stay in Danzig.

9th day: Gdansk - Rügenwalde (approx. 210 km)

Today you will ride through Pomerania to Rügenwalde (Darlowo). Today, the road is the destination: you should choose the side road and always allow time for small detours to the sea along the way. So you will get a wonderful impression of the Polish Baltic Sea coast! Overnight stay in Rügenwalde or surroundings.

10th day: Rügenwalde - Szczecin (approx. 210 km)

Today is the last stage: You ride to Stettin (Szczecin) at the German-Polish border. Overnight stay in Stettin.

11th day: Departure

Individual journey home.
