It was founded when Babylon had its heyday and is located in a settlement area that is over 5000 years old.

New Yerevan is a very modern city, but around it there are some cultural, architectural and historical treasures. Several of these are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is the Cathedral of Echmiatsin, one of the oldest churches in the Christian world, built in 301 and religious center of the Armenians or the palace church of Zvartnots built in the 7th century, which Emperor Constantine II ordered to build a similar one in Constantinople.

Near Garni is a very popular pilgrimage destination, the Geghard Monastery, carved into the rock, also a world cultural heritage site. A little downstream in the Garni gorge is the natural wonder "Symphony of Stones", basalt columns pile up at the edge of the gorge. A Roman sun temple is enthroned high above.

In Soviet times Armenia was a Soviet republic and for western tourists unfortunately hidden behind the Iron Curtain. Since its independence and the Velvet Revolution, Armenia has been a very up-and-coming country and is looking forward to being discovered by long-distance travellers and motorcyclists.

If you want to get a first impression of Armenia, this touristic uncharted territory, you are exactly right with 2800 years Yerevan.

Join us to discover this new tourist territory by motorbike.
