Description

After exploring the centre of South Africa's economy with its rich cultural and historical side, we travel eastwards into Mpumalanga Province, aptly named "The Place of the Rising Sun".

Here we have the opportunity to game drive in the Kruger National Park, with good chances of seeing the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino), as well as exploring the rolling Highveld to the edge of the Lowveld.

This area is famous for the Panorama Route with its many natural wonders - namely the Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window, as well as the Potholes at Bourke's Luck. We not only visit these sights but also Pilgrims Rest, South Africa's first gold mining town.

Traversing the hills of Mpumalanga in a southerly direction, we come to the small kingdom of Swaziland, where we stay overnight and experience genuine Swazi hospitality. We then continue on to Lake St Lucia, reaching Kwa-Zulu Natal, also known as the Zulu Kingdom. We now leave the coast and continue our journey along the northern Drakensberg Mountains. The Drakensberg, known as the "Barrier of Spears" by the Zulus and the "Dragon Mountains" by the Voortrekkers, with its fearsome basalt cliffs, is a Unesco World Heritage Site in South Africa.

In the Golden Gate National Park, which we soon reach, massive, perfectly formed sandstone cliffs dominate the landscape. Through the northern foothills of the Maluti Mountains we head towards the Great Karoo.

Through the Great Karoo, a vast semi-arid region where you will experience the beauty of this flat, parched and sometimes unforgiving area, we drive to the roadside capital of Oudtshoorn and also visit the Cango Caves. However, our tour would be lacking something without a side trip to Cape L'Agulhas on the itinerary. It is the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. There is also the possibility of whale watching, which are here in the mating season.

After this great South Africa motorcycle experience tour, there is still some time to enjoy the sights of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula before we start our return flight, surely with the thought: "We will be back"!
