Total distance: about 3,600 km
Daily stages: 160 - 350 km
Minimum number of participants/ group size: 5 riders. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the tour up to 28 days before the tour starts.

Equipment:
Please bring your own motorcycle clothing, including helmet. In New Zealand helmets are compulsory! Don't forget your rain suit, then it certainly won't rain. What else you should bring: A flashlight, or at least a headlamp. Useful aids are a multitool or pocket knife, sunglasses on the other hand are obligatory. If you are often thirsty on the road, a water bottle is a good idea. For carrying the most important utensils, a waterproof backpack or a luggage roll with the appropriate fastening straps is recommended. This way you can detach everything from the bike at any time and take it with you if necessary. Medication (diarrhea and cold remedies, vitamins, etc.) and drugstore items (sunblock and mosquito repellent) absolutely belong in the luggage.

Please bring copies of all your travel documents such as passport, driver's license and airline ticket as well, just in case.

Entry:
There are no visa or vaccination requirements for New Zealand for German / Austrian or Swiss citizens. However, please check the validity of your passport. You will need this for travel to non-European countries. It must be valid for at least 3 months after the date of departure!
Please note: All visitors from visa-exempt countries need an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) to enter New Zealand. This is subject to a fee and must be applied for by each traveler. There is also an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) for international visitors. Applying for the NZeTA is possible via a cell phone app or the Immigration New Zealand website. All information regarding ETA and IVL as well as the link to apply is available on the website www.immigration.govt.nz/NZeTA. Please note that it can take up to 72 hours for your application to be processed, so it must be applied for in a timely manner. Airlines are entitled to refuse boarding to travelers who do not have a valid NZeTA.

Driver's license:

On this tour the German-speaking tour guide rides in the luggage vehicle, they do not ride ahead of the group. At noon: Arrival in Auckland

Auckland - Paihia, approx. 250 km

After taking over the motorcycles, we will ride north - along the east coast on roads with little traffic to the Bay of Islands.

Free day in Paihia (km at leisure)

The idyllic Bay of Islands is perfect for a short break. Take one of the countless boat tours through the island landscape, visit one of the snow-white beaches or Waitangi, the place where the Treaties of Waitangi (the first New Zealand constitution) were signed with the Maoris in February 1840. You can also take a motorcycle tour to Cape Reinga or Russell, the first capital of the country. In the evening, visit a cultural event with traditional Hangi food, songs, and dances from the unique Maori culture.

Day 4 - 21.11.2022

Paihia - Orewa, approx. 350 km

Today we travel south along the west coast to just before Auckland, passing through the Kauri Forest, where a visit to the Tane Mahuta, the largest Kauri tree, is possible.

Orewa - Coromandel, approx. 260-360 km

Along the east coast, the route leads to the famous Coromandel Peninsula. Depending on whether you want to ride around the peninsula or prefer to take a swim at one of the beautiful beaches in the afternoon, today's stage will vary in length.

Day 6 - 23.11.2022

Coromandel - Taupo approx. 300 km

The next stop is Rotorua, the cultural center of the Maoris. Here the Culture-Centre "Whakarewarewa" offers an interesting and very informative overview of the history of the indigenous people of New Zealand as well as the geothermal activities in the region. Afterward, we continue to Taupo and the lake of the same name.

The area around Taupo offers numerous possibilities to spend the day, you can visit the volcanic region around the Tongariro National Park, take a boat trip, relax in warm spa pools, visit thermal areas, play golf or just let your legs dangle at the lake.

Stratford, approx.160 km

Our next destination is Stratford in Mt. Taranaki National Park. We ride there on the spectacularly curvy Forgotten World Highway, of course including a stop in the "Republic of Whangamomona" and the legendary Whangamomona Pub.

Day 9 - 26.11.2022

Stratford - Wellington, approx. 300 km

Today, we first visit Mt. Taranaki before heading to the capital Wellington. If the weather is suitable, the snow-covered volcano peak is a great photo opportunity. In Wellington, you can stroll through the city or visit the Te Papa National Museum.

Day 10 - 27.11.2022

Wellington - Picton - Abel Tasman, approx. 180 km plus ferry crossing.

Today you will take the ferry to the South Island (3 hours). Upon arrival in Picton, the ride takes you along the winding and scenically spectacular Queen Charlotte Drive on the edge of Marlborough Sound. In the early evening, you will reach the enchanting region of the Abel Tasman National Park.

Abel Tasman - Day at leisure

The region around the Abel Tasman National Park with its endless sandy beaches and huge orchards offers many possibilities to spend the day - with or without a motorcycle. An excursion to Takaka or Cape Foulwind in the far north is an option, or hike a bit into the national park, take a kayak tour or enjoy the day on the beach.

Day 12 - 29.11.2022

Abel Tasman - Punakaiki, approx. 290 km

One of the most impressive stretches is the coastal road from Westport to Punakaiki. You will get there through the Buller Gorge. Arriving at the west coast, you will also visit the famous Pancake Rocks - rocks that resemble fossilized pancakes stacked on top of each other.

Punakaiki - Fox Glacier, approx. 270 km

You follow the impressive West Coast to the glacier region.

Fox Glacier - Wanaka, approx. 300 km

Today's ride is, again, very impressive and varied: It leads over the Haast Pass to the lakes Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka - the St. Moritz of New Zealand.

Wanaka - Te Anau, approx. 290 km

The stage starts with the ride over the Cardrona Valley to Queenstown. From there, you will ride along Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, starting point to the famous fjords Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound.

Te Anau, excursion to Milford Sound, approx. 250 km

You will take a full-day excursion to Milford Sound in the Fjordland National Park, the largest nature reserve in New Zealand. During the boat tour through the sound, you will see an impressive landscape with numerous waterfalls, unique fauna, and flora.

Te Anau - Queenstown, approx. 180 km

Once again, you can enjoy the picturesque coastal road around Lake Wakatipu before you arrive in the adventure capital of New Zealand - Queenstown. There is nothing here that does not exist!

Today can be very adventurous: You can take part in a whitewater or jet boat ride, dare a bungee jump, go on a mountain bike tour, or a tandem skydive. You can also choose a not-so-turbulent gondola ride up Coronet Peak with a fantastic view of Lake Wakatipu, or a beautiful motorcycle ride to Paradise.

Queenstown - Lake Ohau, approx. 230 km

Today you will pass through another completely different landscape as you ride over Lindis Pass and Omarama to Lake Ohau in the interior of the South Island. The scenic contrasts are breathtaking.

The last impressive stage is waiting for us: The ride along the glacial lake Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo to Christchurch.
