Description

Again and again, you ask yourself the question: Is it even possible with my road bike? Yes, it is! And it is sensational!

Incredible roads, breathtaking panoramas, and open friendly people. The tour leads us from Austria via Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro to Albania and Macedonia. We return via Montenegro and the unique coastal road of Croatia back to Austria. What we experience here is fantastic: Whether the cultural diversity of Sarajevo, the medieval city of Mostar, the largest gorge in Europe, or the incredibly majestic landscape along some stretches, the Balkans hold treasures to be discovered! This tour combines the right amount of culture with motorcycle routes that are second to none. Some mountain roads wind around the mountains like masterfully woven gift ribbons and offer a landscape of curves that will make any motorcyclist's heart beat faster. The stages are balanced and varied. They lead through towns and villages, through mountains and gorges, overpasses, along rivers, lakes, and the coast.

Tour info:

From Graz area approx. 3,500 km, medium difficulty, short unpaved sections or sections without asphalt possible, with mountain passes incl. serpentines, city trips and autobahn stages.

OUR EXCLUSIVE TRAVEL PROGRAM:

Day 1 - Graz (AUT) - Slovenia - Croatia - Banja Luka (BiH), 380 km

Meeting at the agreed starting point near Graz. After all the luggage has been stowed in the escort vehicle, we start our journey together. Mainly on the motorway, we go directly to Bosnia & Herzegovina to the capital of the constituent Republic of Srpska, to Banja Luka. Our hotel is located directly in the center. After arrival, we take a relaxing stroll through the old town. Overnight stay in Banja Luka (BiH).

TIP for arrival: There is a hotel at the starting point of the trip. For participants who have a further journey to Graz, it is advisable to arrive the day before and spend the night there. And for those who want to come to the start of the trip with a car and motorcycle trailer, the car can be parked at the hotel during the tour.

TIP for luggage: If you can't or don't want to bring your luggage to the starting point on your motorcycle, you can have us pick it up from your home using our luggage service. We will then bring it to the tour start in the escort vehicle!

Day 2 - Banja Luka (BiH) - Sarajevo (BiH), 270 km

Following the course of the river Vrbas southwards we leave Banja Luka. On the way, we visit picturesque water mills, a unique waterfall, and an old railway bridge. In the afternoon we arrive in the capital of Bosnia: Sarajevo. During a German-speaking guided walk through the historic old town, we will learn about the history and culture of this very special and impressive city. Overnight stay in Sarajevo (BiH).

Day 3 - Sarajevo (BiH) - Mokra Gora (SRB), 290 km

The Visegrad Bridge, UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the cultural highlight of the day. The route there along picturesque gorges is a more than worthy preparation until we finally reach the border with Serbia. The communist past is still visible and tangible in some places. The mix with the modern development makes the special flair of Serbia. Overnight stay in Mokra Gora (SRB).

Day 4 - Mokra Gora (SRB) - Bosnia & Herzegovina - Zabljak (MNE), 215 km

We leave Serbia again and head for Montenegro: Shortly after Mokra Gora, we cross the border back into Bosnia & Herzegovina. Around noon we finally reach the Montenegrin border. Why this country was named Montenegro (Black Mountain) is impressively demonstrated to us here. After the ride through the breathtaking Dumitor National Park (it goes up to 1,900 m above sea level) we reach our overnight stop, the highest town in Montenegro. Overnight stay in Zabljak (MNE).

Day 5 - Zabljak (MNE) - Kolasin (MNE), 100 km

With the Tara Gorge, the deepest gorge in Europe (and second deepest in the world) is on the agenda. And a half-day of rest. We leave the hotel a little later and have a quiet day until we reach our hotel in the ski and health resort Kolasin in the early afternoon. In the wellness area of the hotel, we can enjoy the rest of the day.

Day 6 - Kolasin (MNE) - Shkodra (ALB), 250 km

We once again enjoy the winding mountain roads in southeastern Montenegro before we reach the Albanian border and visit the next country of the tour. The condition of the roads, and likewise the friendliness of the Albanians, will surprise us. During a guided city walk (German language) we will learn a lot about the city and Albania, which is so foreign to us. Overnight stay in Shkodra (ALB).

Day 7 - Shkodra (ALB) - Ohrid (MAK), 320 km

Well rested we can start a little earlier, because there is a lot to see: With Macedonia (also: Macedonia) we reach the southernmost country of the Balkan XXL Tour. But before we reach the Macedonian border we dive deep into the Albanian hinterland. On roads with different quality levels (but all for street bikes without problems) the tour leads us high into the Albanian mountains. Many curves, as well as a high experience factor, guarantee an extremely exciting day! The equally winding ride along the reservoir near the Macedonian town of Debar finally leads us towards Lake Ohrid. Overnight stay in Ohrid (MAK).

Day 8 - Ohrid (MAK) - Tirana (ALB), 170 km

In the morning we have the opportunity for a short walk along the shore of Lake Ohrid, then we set off again for Albania. We reach the capital of Albania in the late afternoon via well-maintained, picturesque roads. Our hotel is located directly in the center of the city. During a guided city walk (German language) we will learn more about the eventful history of Tirana. Overnight stay in Tirana (ALB).

Day 9 - Tirana (ALB) - Budva (MNE), 200 km

We end our visit to Albania and return to Montenegro. But this time not in the mountainous part: Shortly after passing Shkodra we reach the border and then for the first time on the tour we reach the world-famous Adriatic coastal road "Jadranska Magistrala", which we ride northwards. Now we have earned a rest day: Two nights in a hotel by the sea in the Budva area (MNE) follow.

Day 10 - Budva (MNE), 0 km

Day at leisure. We enjoy the amenities of our hotel by the sea and let ourselves go. If you can't get enough of riding, you can make an excursion into the nearby mountains on your own. Overnight stay in the Budva area (MNE).

Day 11 - Budva (MNE) - Dubrovnik (CRO), 210 km

After the rest day, we start a little earlier again, because there is a lot on the program: First, we ride in the adjacent national park to a pass with almost 1,000 m above sea level and taste the very special local ham. Then we "experience" the famous Bay of Kotor and later cross the border to Croatia. Overnight stay in the Dubrovnik area (CRO).

Day 12 - Dubrovnik (CRO) - Neum (BiH), 70 km

We use the morning for an extensive sightseeing tour of the impressive city of Dubrovnik. In the afternoon we enjoy the coastal road again until we enter Bosnia & Herzegovina again at Neum (BiH). Overnight stay in Neum (BiH).

Day 13 - Neum (BiH) - Mostar (BiH) - Makarska Riviera, 230 km

Along narrow country roads, the way leads us to the world-famous town Mostar (BiH). There we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Stari Most, which means "Old Bridge". After this cultural highlight, we return to Croatia. Along the coastal road, we ride to the Makarska Riviera. Overnight stay in the Makarska area (CRO).

Day 14 - Makarska (CRO) - Crkvenica (CRO), 360 km

To enjoy the most beautiful part of the Jadranska Magistrala we bridge the distance around the densely populated areas of Split and Sibenik on the motorway. North of Zadar we leave the motorway and then have about 150 km of "cruising along the coastal road" at its best and with breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea ahead of us. In the late afternoon, we reach the last hotel of our exciting Balkan round trip and can celebrate the end in convivial company. Overnight stay in the Crkvenica area (CRO).

Day 15 - Crkvenica (CRO) - Slovenia - Graz (AUT), 360 km

Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye today. With a lot of nice memories in our luggage, we start our way back home. Your guide will take you mostly on the motorway to the start of the tour near Graz.

End of the tour.

TIP: Journey home: If the route to Graz would be a detour on the way home, you can say goodbye to the other tour participants on departure from the hotel and start the journey home on your own. If there is not enough room for your luggage on the motorcycle, we can send it home using our luggage service.

TIP Additional nights: Additional nights in Graz and/or Croatia are possible on request! Please contact us for an offer!
