Breakfast - if offered by the hotels (A frank word on the subject of breakfast in the USA: We would like to point out that breakfast as an included service in American or Canadian hotels is not a matter of course. There are all different varieties of breakfast. Some hotels offer coffee and some kind of roll, toast or a piece of cake, plus maybe some jam. If one is lucky, there is some fruit or dairy products. Some accommodations only offer coffee with a coffee maker in the room. Other hotels offer a varied breakfast. Many hotels decide in the middle of the season to launch this service, to abolish it or even to change it. There is generally everywhere a possibility to buy breakfast for little money. We write in the services "Partial breakfast", because we can not guarantee which hotel all of a sudden decides for it or against it).

An honest word among bikers:
With the next lines we would like to prepare you in the best way for the adventure of your life. You are either about to book one of the most beautiful types of travel, or you have already done so. The biggest difference between our type of holiday and a general package tour is that you are actively involved. Riding a motorcycle is one of the best things in life. At least for us bikers. The focus of the trip is motorcycling through unique landscapes. We have designed the programs in such a way that both riding fun and experience are present in sufficient quantity. Team spirit and adaptation in the group are absolutely necessary just as you need to bring a certain basic fitness and experience so that we can reach the destination together happy and healthy. If you have any doubts about your health, fitness or experience levels, please contact us beforehand. We want to achieve the best holiday experience for you too. The daily stages are on average 250 - 400 kilometers long. That sounds a lot, but it can't be compared to the same route in Europe, considering that there are often 80 kilometers without passing through a town and a whole day without traffic lights during the program. There are also hardly any traffic jams. We are rarely in the saddle for more than five hours throughout the day. We reach our daily destination between 4 - 6 p.m., depending on the season. Depending on the weather and daily temperatures, it can happen that we have to leave a little earlier or reach our daily destination later. However, if we want to experience a picture book sunset with full intention, it will be a little later.
-
Insurance:
We generally recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance.
-
Upon request:
1/2 double rooms can be booked upon request. If a 1/2 double room is already available, we will confirm t to you in your booking. If the 1/2 double room is not available at that very moment, then we will confirm a single room first. As soon as we have a booking for the second half of the room, we will immediately credit you the single room surcharge.

Description

Come along on a classic motorcycle tour through the famous southern states of America.

Ride on the saddle of a Harley Davidson® through landscapes as you know them from "Gone with the Wind" or plantation misery à la "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and enjoy up close Dixieland, Blues, and Country Music.

We have put together a great package for you and prepared a very well-dosed mix of experiences.

New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Great Smoky Mountains are the highlights here.

And here are the states we drive through:

LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, ALABAMA, GEORGIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, NORTH CAROLINA, AND TENNESSEE.

-

A semi-guided tour is basically a guided tour that allows individual participants free space.

You ride either behind or in front of our experienced guide who sits in the support vehicle and guides you, or you ride the tour on your own terms and your luggage is automatically transported with you. However, in case of an emergency, you will have a contact person on site.

You decide for yourself if you prefer the guided or the self-ride version. Our service and performance are unique!

Tour itinerary:

Day 01: Flight to New Orleans

Welcome to New Orleans. The arrival is individual. If you have contracted us to organize your flights and transfers, we will be waiting for you at the airport. Otherwise, we will meet later at the hotel. In the evening, the first meeting of all participants with your tour guide will take place at the first tour hotel in the famous French Quarter for a "welcome drink" followed by a discussion about the course of the tour and lots of tips. Afterward, the rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight stay in New Orleans.

TIP: If you would like to arrive a day or two in advance so that you can explore this wonderful city at your leisure, we can help you book flights, transfers, or extra nights at the hotel of your choice.

We can very easily take care of such requests for you.

-

Day 02: New Orleans

The day is at your free disposal. You can spend the morning walking through the French Quarter, for example, or take a paddlewheel steamboat tour with music and lunch on the Mississippi River. In the evening, be sure to enjoy Bourbon Street. Here you will find countless live music offerings for every taste. Overnight stay in New Orleans.

-

Day 03: New Orleans - Mobile (260 km)

In the morning we load the luggage in the support vehicle and ride to the rental station to collect the motorcycle. After completing the formalities and the briefing, we say goodbye to New Orleans. Via Highway 90, also nicknamed "Route 66 of the South" and running through the states of Mississippi and Alabama. The gambling town of Biloxi is one of our stops today. Our onward journey on Highway 90 takes us through the coastal region of Mississippi to the state of Alabama. Overnight in the Mobile/Daphne area.

-

Day 04: Mobile - Columbus (420 km)

After breakfast, we make our way across the Alabama backcountry. The route is varied and Atmore, Andalusia, Troy, and Hurtsboro are a few of the stops along the way. Our destination today is Georgia's third-largest city, Columbus. Overnight stay in the Columbus area. Tour length approx. 420 km.

-

Day 05: Columbus - Anderson (185 km)

Today we enjoy "Georgia on my mind" on the road. Georgia is the only state that truly combines within its borders everything that makes the Deep South of the USA so appealing, plus the legendary Southern hospitality. Along the way we will encounter various plantation homes from the American Civil War era, some of which are already museums, allowing us (optional) a glimpse into the times of yore. Our destination for the day is Andreson in South Carolina, where we will also spend the night. Tour length approx. 395 km.

-

Day 06: Blue Ridge Parkway - Great Smoky Mountains - Pigeon Forge (280 km)

First, on the agenda today is the world-famous Blue Ridge Parkway. We spend our lunch break at the worldwide unique motorcycle museum "Wheels through Time", which is located in Maggie Valley. Afterward, we will ride over countless passes and curves and cross the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Overnight stay today is in the area of Pigeon Forge, TN. Tour length approx. 280 km.

-

Day 07: Tail of the Dragon - Cherohala Skyway - Chattanooga (309 km)

Today we have one of the most exciting routes from a motorcyclist's point of view. We reach the "Deals Gap" or the famous "Tail of the Dragon". The route has a total of 318 curves on a length of 17.6 km. Please pay attention, because we are guaranteed not alone on this road, but together with hundreds of other vehicles. But when we have passed them, you can buy at the store the ultimate proof of the ride a small sticker or patch. The onward journey takes us first on the beautiful and winding Cherohala Skyway to Chattanooga. This railroad town has no need for advertising thanks to the Glenn Miller song "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Overnight stay in Chattanooga. Tour length approx. 309 km.

-

Day 08: Lynchburg - Nashville (280 km)

This morning we ride up Lookout Mountain. This winding scenic road takes us to the parking area below the summit. Here we have the opportunity to visit Rock City, where after a short hike through rock caves, narrow canyons, past a waterfall and across a suspension bridge we reach the lookout. Continuing through deepest Tennessee brings us to Lynchburg, where we may visit the Jack Daniels Distillery (optional). This distillery is ironically located in a "dry county" (alcohol-free county), of which there are still a few here in the old South. We then spend our lunch break in the beautifully restored town, just as we know it from countless commercials. Our destination today is the capital of country music, Nashville, where we will also spend the night. But until we get there, we will visit one or the other bar or saloon (optional) and have fun with the music. Tour length approx. 280 Km.

-

Day 09: Nashville - Memphis (385 km)

The ride west takes us across the Tennessee River and through vast rural areas. In Jackson you have the opportunity to visit the legendary Country Store near the museum of the famous railroad hero Casey Jones (optional). And then we reach Memphis, the home of the blues and the birthplace of rock 'n' roll. Especially (but not only) on Beale Street you can hear live music behind every door all year round. Hip blues bars line the sidewalks and musicians gather for impromptu jam sessions. An optional tour of Sun Studio lets you visit the place where the careers of B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash or Jerry Lee Lewis began. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music presents memorabilia of soul legends like Tina Turner or Isaac Hayes. Memphis is also known for its world-class BBQ restaurants. Overnight stay tonight is in Memphis. Tour length approx. 385 Km

-

Day 10: Graceland - Clarksdale (140 km)

An absolute must on a visit to Memphis is Elvis Presley's Graceland. On the extensive estate you can visit the King's former home, a museum about his career as well as his cars and several of his luxuriously equipped airplanes (optional). We then ride south on U.S. Highway 61, also known as the Blues Highway, until we reach Clarksdale. Here, at the intersection with U.S. Highway 49, we find the place where, according to legend, musician Robert Johnson gave his soul to the devil in exchange for becoming an excellent blues musician. Legends like John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke or Ike Turner were born in this small town. Of course, we also have time to visit the Delta Blues Museum. The museum dedicated to blues music. In addition to an extensive collection of blues memorabilia, the museum also exhibits art related to the blues, including works by sculptor Floyd Shaman and photographer Birney Imes. Overnight in Clarksdale. Tour length approx. 140 km.

-

Day 11: Mississippi Blues Trail - Natchez (350 km)

Today we continue south on the Mississippi Blues Trail. We pass the town of Vicksburg, which gained sad fame during the American Civil War. This is where the legendary Battle of Vicksburg took place, which marked the surrender of the Confederates and the end of the Civil War. If we have made good time, here you will have the opportunity to learn more about the great battle as you tour the vast Military Park (optional). Continuing on, we discover rural Mississippi and the pretty and historic town of Port Gibson, en route to Natchez, the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River. In the era of the cotton barons, Natchez was home to more millionaires than any other place in the United States. Nowhere else are there so many Southern mansions from this era in one place. See the sunset at the brest on the river at the historic "Under the Hill Saloon" before going to dinner or visiting a gambling casino. Overnight stay in Natchez. Tour length approx. 350 km.

-

Day 12: Oak Alley Plantation - New Orleans (325 km)

Along the Mississippi River and the bayous we pass Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana until we reach the world-famous Oak Alley Plantation. There, for an entrance fee (optional), we can visit the most photographed plantation mansion in the world with its long oak alley. Afterward, we ride through the River Road to New Orleans, where we first return our bikes. Afterward, we transfer to our hotel and enjoy the evening around the French Quarter. Overnight stay in New Orleans. Tour length approx. 325 Km.

-

Day 13: Return flight

If you prefer to stay here a few days longer, let us know and we will prepare the right package for you, whatever your wishes are.

Otherwise, the transfer to the airport and your flight back to Europe will take place today.
