From Cape Town along the Garden Route to Agulhas

This Garden Route ride opens with a day in Cape Town before the road runs south to Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa. Betty's Bay, with its penguin colony, and Hermanus, the whale watching capital, come along the way. The south coast leads through the Garden Route to the Bloukrans Bridge and a full day tracking the Big Five in Addo Elephant National Park. From there the route climbs to Oudtshoorn, ostrich capital of the world, with the Cango Caves and the Swartberg Pass. Route 62, the longest wine route on earth, carries you through the Breede River Valley to Robertson. Total distance: roughly 2,320 km, averaging about 290 km a day.

Highlights

Route 62 wine country

Ride the famous Route 62, billed as the longest wine route on earth, through Robertson and the Breede River Valley to Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, past vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture.

Cape of Good Hope

Ride out to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope inside Table Mountain National Park, with the Atlantic on one side and the fynbos-covered cliffs of the Cape Peninsula on the other.

Table Mountain, Cape Town

Take the cable car to the summit for the view over the Mother City, the harbour and the Atlantic seaboard, before your Route 62 motorcycle tour heads out through the peninsula and south.

Cape Agulhas, Africa's Tip

Stand at the southern tip of the African continent, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, far quieter and much less crowded than the better-known Cape of Good Hope further north along the coast.

Addo Elephant safari

Spend a full day tracking the Big Five in Addo Elephant National Park: lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo, with the marine reserve attached the park can even claim the Big Seven.
