Base Frauenstein, 1,190 km, five stages

It opens in Magdeburg, where the group sets off at 10 in the morning. The first stage runs via Köthen, Leipzig, Grimma and Siebenlehn, around 270 kilometres to the base hotel in Frauenstein in the southern Ore Mountains. The group stays there four nights, and three stages set out from it: into Saxon Switzerland, to Augustusburg and Olbernhau, and to the Sosa Reservoir. On the fifth day the way returns via Roßwein, Trebsen and Schkeuditz to Magdeburg, where the evening ends after 6 pm.

Highlights

Hohnstein Castle

The second day passes Hohnstein Castle, the only surviving fortress among the once-numerous right-bank Elbe strongholds of the region. A rewarding stop in the middle of Saxon Switzerland with its striking rock formations.

Museum at Augustusburg

The motorcycle museum at Schloss Augustusburg is one of Europe's most significant two-wheel collections. Across around 1,200 square metres it traces the machine's technical development from 1885 to the present, with a lunch break on site.

The Sosa Reservoir

On the fourth day the Sosa Reservoir offers a break with a wide view across the western Ore Mountains, before the way continues to Annaberg-Buchholz, where a relaxed coffee stop is waiting for the group.

Frauenstein Base Hotel

The base hotel sits in the southern Ore Mountains and offers a wellness area, a garage for your machine, plus a hearty biker breakfast and an evening menu. For four nights the luggage simply stays in the room.

Curves in the Ore Mountains

Between Klingenberg, Geising and Altenberg run well-surfaced country roads with plenty of bends. Away from the heavily used main roads the riding stays varied without ever becoming demanding.
