Four nights in Edenkoben, five stages

It opens at the Euro Rastpark Waldlaubersheim right on the A61, where the group gathers by 11 am. After a shared lunch break the guide leads along quiet trunk and country roads to the Gutshof Ziegelhütte base hotel in Edenkoben, home for the next four nights. Three day loops start from there: castles and the Wine Route, the bends of the southern Palatinate Forest, and a border crossing into the Northern Vosges. Everything is ridden in groups of at most eight machines, and the roadbook carries hotel and route details for every stage.

Highlights

Castles on the Wine Route

The first day loop runs to Hambach Castle and along the German Wine Route past numerous castle ruins to Trifels Imperial Castle, known for Richard the Lionheart and for holding the imperial regalia of the Holy Roman Empire.

The Elmstein Valley

The southern Palatinate Forest delivers good asphalt and little traffic. Because the riding falls on a Friday, the Elmstein valley is open too, which stays closed to motorcycles on public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The View from Landeck

From Landeck Castle the view reaches across the Rhine plain all the way to the Black Forest. The stop there is a fixed part of the Palatinate Forest loop, preceded by the coffee halt at the Johanniskreuz meeting point.

Over the Smugglers' Path

An old, unsurfaced smugglers' path leads into the Northern Vosges, yet it can be ridden on any machine without trouble. Beyond it wait small winding lanes, pretty villages and the market square of Wissembourg.

Base Hotel in Edenkoben

Four nights at the 3-star Gutshof Ziegelhütte with breakfast buffet and a three-course choice menu in the evening. Every day loop starts here, and no luggage transport is provided on this route.
