The gently rolling evergreen hills of the Vosges, whose foothills extend into the fertile Rhine valley, offer the finest in riding pleasure. After all, about 1400 meters of altitude difference are enough to let the roads climb almost alpine to the soft green peaks.

There are plenty of small pass roads winding up the mountain flanks, pretty half-timbered towns and romantic winegrowing villages in between.
