The scenic and cultural contrasts could hardly be greater and the motorcycle routes are also fundamentally different. In South Africa, you'll enjoy gorgeous coastal roads to the Cape of Good Hope, while red sand tracks take you through the vastness of Namibia. In between are deserts, huge dunes, wine and forest regions, unique wildlife and the warmth of Africa! You simply have to experience it!
This motorcycle tour leads you in 12 riding days through such indescribably contrasting landscapes and cultures that at the end you will have the impression of having made a world tour. The tour starts in the metropolis of Cape Town, first makes a detour eastwards along the coast, to the Cape of Good Hope, over the dream road Chapmans Peak and the deep green wine region around Stellenbosch. This contrasts with the landscape of the next few days as we head north on the west side, through the Cederberg Mountains and the dry, vast Namaqualand. Crossing the border into Namibia opens up another world, the endless expanses of the Namib Desert, the wild horses at Aus and the tranquil coastal town of Swakopmund make every day exciting and varied. The roads are increasingly hard-packed sand and pushed gravel. You will enjoy the view in the mighty Fish River Canyon, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sossusvlei and the Kalahari with its endless red dunes. The tour ends in the capital Windhoek after two exciting weeks.
This tour is initially designed for 14 days. However, your individual motorcycle tour through South Africa & Namibia will be designed exactly for your possible travel duration. We will be happy to work out the itinerary for the days you have available - please contact us for an exact, tailor-made offer!
The following itinerary is only a suggestion! This motorcycle tour can also start in Windhoek and end in Cape Town, for example, or include other stops or additional ride-free days. The exact route for your motorcycle tour will be tailor-made and created according to your ideas!
Possible itinerary (changes possible):
Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town.
Transfer to the hotel. After you have recovered from the flight, there is time to get a first impression of the metropolis at the Cape.
Day 2: Tour around Cape Town, 150 km
Motorbike pick-up and a ride along the Peninsula Route, via Boulders Beach to the Cape of Good Hope, back to Cape Town via Chapmans Peak Drive. Afternoon visit to Table Mountain if necessary.
Day 3: From Cape Town to Van Rhynsdorp, 340 km
Ride through the wine region around Stellenbosch, over the Bain's Koop Pass and through the mountains of the Cederberg region to Van Rhynsdorp.
Day 4: From Van Rhynsdorp to Aussenkehr, 440 km
Through the semi-arid Namaqualand you cross the border into Namibia.
Day 5: From Aussenkehr to Fish River Canyon, 230 km
Ride west through the Aussenkehr Nature Reserve, through the desert-like landscapes that are so typical of Namibia, to the Gondwana Nature Park.
Day 6: From Fish River Canyon to Aus, 290 km
Some time after Fish River Canyon you follow the banks of the Orange River via Ai-Ais to Aus. This is the home of the famous wild horses and you will certainly be able to observe these magnificent animals.
Day 7: From Aus to Sossusvlei, 350 km
Further north, the impressive dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei in the Namib N.P. await you today. Here in this region you will stay for two nights to have enough time to experience these unique landscapes.
Day 8: Free day in Sossusvlei
Today it is worthwhile to ride into the Namib Desert to visit the mighty dunes. But you should also leave time for relaxing and enjoying yourself at the lodge ... to empty the battery and memory for further experiences.
Day 9: From Sossusvlei to Swakopmund, 350 km
An absolute must is the stop at the Tropic of Capricorn sign, which you pass on today's leg.
Day 10: From Swakopmund to Erongo Wilderness, 250 km
Today you leave the Atlantic coast and ride inland towards the Erongo Mountains.
Day 11: From Erongo to Erindi, 180 km
This rather short stage first takes you further east through the Erongo Mountains to Erindi - and the "Matterhorn" of Namibia! A visit to Spitzkoppe is, so to speak, a must on any trip to Namibia.
Day 12: Free day in Erindi
Here in Erindi National Park you will experience the spectacular wildlife of Nambia up close and in its natural environment on an exciting jeep safari. A highlight at the end of the trip that is guaranteed to create long-lasting memories!
Day 13: From Erindi to Windhoek, 150 km
Ride through Erindi National Park for a little while longer before heading south to arrive in the capital Windhoek in the afternoon. Here your motorcycle tour ends with the return of the bike and a possible last overnight stay in Namibia.
Day 14: Departure from Windhoek
Depending on when your departure from Namibia is scheduled for, you may still have time today to get an impression of Windhoek. The capital of Namibia was once a German colony and many a building, name or designation still remind you of it.
