Most support staff cannot speak English.
Arrival time at camp depends on our distance, speed and what happens during the day.
After we have arrived at camp, we cannot entertain individual participants.
We'll pick you up and drop you off at Continental Hotel, unless other services agreed.
Accommodation on tour is always wild camping (single tents). Mongolia is the perfect place for wild camping and it is as close to nature as possible to get. Often during the summer months, the wild flowers are spectacular. Our expedition tents are strong enough to withstand all kinds of Mongolian weather conditions.

It is also of immense historical significance and we will visit the places where Genghis Khan lived until he became leader of his people and moved his capital to Kharkhorin in Central Mongolia.

Apart from the last day of the trip, which is on tarmac, we follow rough jeep tracks on packed mud or rock all the way. There may be some river crossings (depends on recent weather conditions), although we travel out of our way to find bridges to cross the big rivers. All nights on tour are spent in the wild, camping in tents and we cover a distance of approximately 1300 kilometres in 6 days.

Tour Highlights:

Day 1

Arrive Ulaanbaatar. Overnight hotel.

Day 2

Set off eastwards towards Khentii Province, stopping for lunch at the huge silver statue of Genghis Khan on his horse. Leave the main black topped road before the village of Tsenkhermandal and ride over the mountains to arrive at the small Khukh Nuur (“Blue Lake”) beside which we camp.

Day 3

Ride on rough jeep tracks through silver birch forest and open rocky hilltops through Binder district to an area in the mountains which is an ancient graveyard of Kings, although there is little left to see of it. Overnight camping.

Day 4

Not far from our campsite are some bronze-age rock paintings which we stop to see before riding on to Bayan Adraga village beside the wide Onon river. Ride through a beautiful forested area and camp before the bridge.

Day 5

Cross the Onon river near the entrance to Onon-Balj National Park, then ride north a short distance to Dadal village where Genghis Khan was born in 1162. Where his mother’s ger once stood there is now a small lake and not far away there is an excellent viewpoint. Drive to Norovliin district to camp.

Day 6

Drive across the fertile open hills of Batnorov district and through the village to reach Underkhan, the capital of Khentii province located beside the Kherlen river. Overnight camping on a mountainside beyond the town.

Day 7

Return to Ulaanbaatar on the good new black paved road, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. Overnight hotel.

Day 8
