Itinerary:

Day 1

On the morning of this st day of the tour, you will ride along the Douro river for a few kms, before heading south towards the mountains.

The first city you will find will be Arouca, (land famous for its nice meat!), before heading to the beautiful Serra de São Macário, with its challenging roads.

On this mountain, on a clear day, you can see the sea, despite being about 70 kms from the coast in a straight line!

Then it's time to start descending towards Viseu, where you will spend the night.

Take the opportunity to visit this beautiful city and its medieval center.

Day 2

The 2nd day of the tour is a mix between Portugal and Spain.

Leaving Viseu, you will ride on the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, where you can find the highest point in Portugal (“Torre”), located at 2,000m high.

But before you get there, you will ride through a glacial valley and on breathtaking mountain roads.

After visiting the Serra da Estrela it’s time to head East to the Serra da Malcata Natural Park, before arriving in the Spanish city of Plasencia, a wonderful city full of Roman archeological remains.

Day 3

This day is fully dedicated to the Sierra de Gredos.

This mountain range is a gem full of twisting roads, waterfalls and explosive wilderness.

On the way don’t forget to stop at Arenas de São Pedro and visit its magnificent castle.

The day will end in the beautiful fortified city of Ávila, but before getting there you will ride on some serious fun mountain passes.

Day 4

The beginning of the 4th day of the tour will take you back to the Sierra de Gredos mountain, but this time on a different approach.

The route is designed to go through some of the most famous mountain passes of the region, that are part of the “Vuelta” (the annual multi-stage bicycle race).

On the 2nd part of the day you will head West towards Las Batuecas- Sierra de Francia Natural Park, before arriving in the astonishing city of Salamanca, where you will stay overnight.

With a history dating back to the Celtic era, Salamanca it’s known for its ornate sandstone architecture and for the Universidad de Salamanca. Founded in the 1100´s and a key intellectual center in the 15th-16th centuries, the university continues to add to the city’s vibrancy with its international student population.

Day 5

This is the final day of the tour.

You will head West in the direction of your destination, the city of Porto.

But don’t think the fun and interesting ride is over.

On the way you will ride on the Douro International Natural Park, the Douro Valley and the Serra do Marão mountain, before arriving at the city of Amarante, where you can make a stop, before a relaxing 70 km ride on the highway towards the end of the tour.
