Description
The beauty of Sardinia will impress you and after the holiday you will say: "How, is it already over?"! Just let yourself be surprised...
In contrast to many other tour operators we use the night ferries for the crossings from Genoa to Sardinia and back. They are more expensive, but we gain two extra days of vacation!
Tour itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Weil am Rhein.
Departure at 7.00 a.m. at the service area Geismühle West (A57) in southern direction for the common journey to our intermediate hotel Ott's Leopoldshöhe in Weil am Rhein.
Individual arrival possible.
Day 2: Over the Gotthard Pass to Genoa for the ferry.
Today we ride to the ferry to Genoa. Unfortunately we have to use the motorway for most of the way, which requires a vignette in Switzerland and tolls in Italy.
If the weather permits it, we do not ride through the Gotthard road tunnel, but over the 2106 meter high Gotthard pass.
Day 3: From Porto Torres to the first base hotel in Arbatax.
In a true paradise of curves we ride through endless cork oak forests via Bitti to Nuoro and on to the Gulf of Orosei. On the famous SS125 we ride over the Gennargentu mountains to Arbatax to our first base hotel Arbatasar.
Day 4: Orgosolo - Aritzo.
Today we ride through the notorious Barbagia to the former "bandit's nest" of Orgosolo. We continue via Fonni, the highest mountain village in Sardinia, to Aritzo. In a small detour to the highest accessible point of the island we also see the only ski lift in Sardinia. We then head towards Seulo, where we have lunch in a typical agriturismo and get to know Sardinian life in the countryside. Via Ussassai and Lanusei we then return to the base hotel near Arbatax.
Day 5: The Southeast.
The southeast of Sardinia down to the Gulf of Cagliari is our touring destination today. The outward route takes us through a paradise of curves along the coast until we turn into the gorge of the Rio di Cannas. Via San Nicolo Gerreigeht it curves past the ghost town of Cairo back to our hotel.
Day 6: Rest day.
Day at leisure ... to, for example, just lie around relaxed on the beach or take a small boat trip across the lagoon lake Stagno di Tortolì.
Day 7: Tour to our second base hotel on the west coast.
It's time to change locations to get to know the other regions of Sardinia. Passing the Lago del Flumendosa we head towards the west coast to the Costa Verde. In the process, we repeatedly cross the narrow gauge of the famous Sardinian railway line, which winds its way through the mountainous landscape in an adventurous manner over bridges and tunnels.
Day 8: The Northwest.
On this day we ride a good distance along the magnificent cliffs to the north in the direction of Alghero, known for its old town with its beautiful harbour. There we have time to have a look around. Afterwards we ride on winding roads a little further inland back to the hotel.
Day 9: Costa Verde.
Heading south we ride along the Costa Verde, unlike in the east steep and rocky, often untouched and lonely, passing the old mines of Montevecchio, which show us a picture of past industry. Via Buggeru and the beach di Mesua we enter the valley of the Riu di Antas. In an endless serpentine winding (partly this route is also used for mountain races) we return to our hotel.
Day 10: Arrival at Porto Torres.
It's time to say goodbye to the west coast. But not without enjoying the island as a motorcyclist's paradise once more.
Day 11: Return journey to Weil am Rhein.
After leaving the ferry, we head back through Italy and Switzerland to our stopover hotel Ott's Leopoldshöhe in Weil am Rhein.
Day 12: Journey home.
Joint or individual journey home to Krefeld or home.
