Entry requirements: Persons with a German, Austrian or Swiss passport only need a machine-readable passport. Participants from other countries may require a visa.
Security: Is South Africa safe? How safe is man/woman in South Africa? These are questions that we are asked time and again in conversations. Well, we personally haven't had any unpleasant or even dangerous situations in all these years, even on tours where we were on our own. Friends and business partners have been living in South Africa for many years, they report similar things. On our tours so far we have been warmly welcomed everywhere, which also reflects the friendliness and openness of the South Africans. If you have any questions on this topic, please contact us!
Climate Information: In South Africa the seasons are opposite to ours. The months of October, November and December are comparable to our early summer, with an average temperature of 25°. Midsummer is in the months of January, February and March, with temperatures between 25° and 30°. At the coast it tends to be a little cooler than inland.
We offer a group discount for groups of four or more people. Please contact us for this.
Language: This offer is usually suitable for English and/or German speaking participants. Please enquire for language options.
Mobility: The offer is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. Please contact us for more information.

Description

On this guided motorcycle tour we have included many highlights like Chapmans Peak Drive, Cape of Good Hope, Meiringspoort, Addo Elephant Park, a lion feeding, etc. We stay overnight in selected and personal lodges and hotels.

Small group for maximum fun

It is important to us that you can enjoy this tour. Therefore, we make sure that the group fits well together and is not too big (max. 8 people).

Spring and late summer are the ideal travel season for South Africa. The temperatures are then perfect for leisurely cruising on a motorcycle (e.g. a Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide) through the wide valleys around Montagu and along Route 62. The Garden Route National Park has a very special flair when everything begins to bloom in October. With a little luck, you can also watch whales directly from the shore in the small town of Hermanus. Stellenbosch has a very special charm with its numerous wineries such as Ernie Els, Spiers, Kleine Zalze, and the picturesque town centre.

We'll ride - even just for you

You have already signed up for a tour before, and it did not take place due to too few registrations? That's an annoyance! Therefore we have decided that every tour date will take place! after all, it's all about your well-deserved vacation!

TOURIST PROGRESS

Day 1: Arrival

Shuttle service from airport/hotel to Amakhaya Lodge in Hout Bay. Handing over of the bikes, instruction in the traffic rules, safety. Common dinner (exclusive)

Day 2: Round trip to the cape

The Harleys are ready for you at the lodge. To get used to riding on the left we ride via Constantia, Simons Town to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Afterwards we will visit an ostrich farm, and if you wish, you can also feed an ostrich. The way back leads us along beautiful coastal roads. The highlight will be the Chapmans Peak Drive. A 9 km long coastal road from Hout Bay to Nordhoek, with 114 bends.

Distance approx. 150 km

Day 3: Cape Town - Montagu

Our first section takes us from Hout Bay over the N1 to Worcester and further through the fertile valley of Doorns. From there we ride to a plateau (approx. 1,100 m) and down a pass back into the valley, where we arrive in Montagu.

Distance approx. 260 km

Day 4: Montagu - Oudtshoorn

Today we ride on Route 62 through wide valleys, past picturesque orchards and vineyards and through the Karoo (semi-desert landscape). Stopovers are planned at Diesel & Creame in Barrydale and Ronnie's Sex Shop (cult stop). The highlight of the day will be feeding the lions.

Distance approx. 240 km

Day 5: Oudtshoorn - Graaf-Reinet

The longest stage of our tour. Mountains, valleys and passes as well as the wide karroo landscape characterize this stage. A highlight is the stop at Meiringspoort, a deep natural gorge that runs right through the middle of the Swartberg Mountains. The majestic Swartberg mountain range at first seems impenetrable, until the sight of the almost vertically sloping gulf presents itself. The day is rounded off with sunset in the Valley of Desolation.

Distance approx. 340 km

Day 6: Graaf-Reinet - Addo

We continue through the Karoo, with spectacular views to Addo, where we stay in a lodge for the next two nights.

Distance approx. 240 km

Day 7: Addo Elephant Park

Today we swap the motorcycles for jeeps and are on safari all day in the Addo Elephant Park. With a bit of luck we will see the "Big Five": buffalo, elephants, lions, rhinos and leopards.

Day 8: Addo - Tsitsikamma

We pass Port Elizabeth and reach the Garden Route National Park. We are again a bit on the Route 62, cross a small pass and then we are on the N2. If you want, you can glide over the Kruisriver (exclusive) with the zipline.

Distance approx. 260 km

Day 9: Tsitsikamma - Mossel Bay

A stop will be made in the beautiful Nature's Valley. From there we travel to Knysna where we can visit the Knysna Elephant Park (exclusive, optional). Lunch in Knysna The Knysna Elephant Park is a breeding station for elephants, one is very close to these animals. We then continue on the N2 past Sedgefield, over Swartvlei, the largest salt water lake in South Africa, through forests to Mossel Bay. Depending on the interest of the group, there are further possibilities for activities on this route, such as bungee jumping (Bloukranz Bridge, 216 m), the vintage car museum in Sedgefield, etc.

Distance approx. 220 km

Day 10: Mossel Bay - Swellendam

A culinary insider tip is on the way today - a small café in Heidelberg, where you can get the best cappuccino and cheesecake. From there we continue to Swellendam. A detour to the coast to Witsand is optionally possible.

distance approx. 170 km / 220 km

Day 11: Swellendam - Cape L'Agulhas - Hermanus

From Swellendam we ride through wide landscape with grain fields to the horizon to Cape L'Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa. From there we ride on to Hermanus. With a little luck you can watch whales directly from the beach.

Distance approx. 250 km

Day 12: Hermanus - Stellenbosch

Our first stop today is the penguins in Bettys Bay. From there we follow the beautiful Wale Coast Route to Gordons Bay. In Somerset West we visit a breeding station for Cheetas. We continue up Sir Lowry's Pass to Franschhoek and from there to Stellenbosch. We let the evening end comfortably with a wine tasting.

Distance approx. 200 km

Day 13: Stellenbosch - HoutBay

Fans of beautiful passports will get their money's worth today. We ride the Toitskloof Pass and the Bains Kloof Pass to Wellington. From there we return to Hout Bay. When we get to Tyger Valley, we're gonna make a stop at the Harley Dealer. The evening will end with a BBQ (included).

Distance approx. 220 km
