Description
One finds unspoilt mountain villages, winding roads of every width with mostly very grippy asphalt, which invites to rob the curves. And in many places cheese, olives and other typical local products are offered from our own production. When you cross this region, you feel set back 100 years.
In order to "experience" one or the other highlight in France on the outward and return journey, we have planned an overnight stay in Millau on both the outward and return journey.
Therefore the tour is one day longer than before.
Tour itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Lyon.
Departure at 7.00 a.m. at the Geismühle West (A57) rest stop in southern direction via Luxembourg, Metz, Nancy, Dijon and Beaune to our intermediate hotel near Lyon.
Alternatively you can join the group on the way or travel to Lyon on your own.
Day 2: Through Massif Central and Tarn Gorge to Millau.
Day trip along the Massif Central, the Loire and via Le Puy through the Tarn Gorge to our hotel in Millau.
Day 3: Via Carcassonne to the base hotel in Andorra.
Passing under the Millau Viaduct, one of the highest bridges in Europe, our day tour first takes us to the Cite de Carcassonne, a medieval fortress that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the sightseeing we continue to our **** base hotel in Andorra.
Day 4: Through the Catalan Pyrenees.
Today we explore the Catalan part of the Pyrenees. For this we ride through the city of Andorra via Port del Cantó to Sort, where we have a coffee break. Through the gorge of Collegats and over the Coll de Corniols we continue past the Pantà de Rialb reservoir to Oliana, where we have a lunch break. The return journey takes us to the reservoir Pantà D'Oliana and further through the valley of the Serge back to our base hotel in Andorra.
Day 5: Through the east of the French Pyrenees.
Today we will take the French side of the Pyrenees and start over the Port d'Envalira to Ax-les-Thermes. We continue over the Col de Pailhères with a breathtaking descent into the valley of the Aude. Afterwards we ride through several canyons to the restaurant Le Rébenty, where you can enjoy the best "Filet Mignon" around Andorra. After we have strengthened ourselves, we continue through the Gorges de Saint Georges and over various small passes to Mont-Louis with its picturesque medieval town centre. Our last stop on the way back to the base hotel is one of the world's largest solar ovens in Odeillo.
Day 6: Day of rest.
This day is dedicated to recovery. You can dedicate yourself to duty-free shopping or enjoy the wellness area of our base hotel.
Day 7: Over the highest passes of the Catalan Pyrenees.
Today's tour takes us via La Seu d'Urgellnach Gósol, a small village where Pablo Picasso once spent a summer. The route continues over the Serra del Cadí to Berga. Via La Pobla de Lillet and the 1920-metre-high Coll de la Creueta and the Collada de Toses, we reach the N260, where you can ride dizzy on the way to the valley. Via the Col de Puymorens and the Port d'Envalira we return to the base hotel in Andorra.
Day 8: From Andorra via Haut-Languedoc to Millau.
Today our stay in Andorra ends, but we have a great tour ahead of us! On winding and little used side roads we ride through the nature park Haut-Languedoc and the Montagne Noire back to Millau, where we stay in the same hotel as on arrival.
Day 9: Through the Ardèche Gorge to the intermediate hotel in Lyon.
Today we start to a quite long stage to our intermediate hotel near Lyon. On the way there, we have the opportunity to ride through the Ardèche gorge.
Day 10: Journey home.
Joint or individual return journey to Krefeld or home.
