Description

The start of the Croatia Bike Cruise, the "Croatia Cruise On 2 Wheels", is the seaside resort of Opatija on the northern Croatian Adriatic coast. We ride our motorcycles directly into the port of Opatija and park there in front of our "floating hotel", which will be our home for the next week. We have our dinner on the ship and enjoy the sea air and our first night on board.

The very next morning our guided tour of Croatia begins:

After breakfast we say goodbye to the captain and crew, get on our bikes and ride together along the coast towards the south. While we make a small detour into the mountains near the coast, our ship is already on its way by sea to the next meeting point.

At noon we will have a relaxing break with the possibility to eat something and taste the specialties of the "experienced region".

We then take the ferry to the island of Rab, where our ship is already waiting for us when we arrive at the port of the island's capital of the same name. We park the motorcycles directly in the harbor and retire contentedly to "our rooms" to freshen up for the evening. After dinner, which the ship's cook has conjured up for us, we can explore the small harbor and the old town, have a cozy drink, and look forward to the next day: the route will take us to Dalmatia, to the city of Zadar.

And so we ride every day a beautiful, detailed selected route on mostly excellent road surfaces between coastal road, hinterland, and island roads and spend the night every night in a different port, but always in our own cabin. Annoying suitcase packing is therefore unnecessary for the whole week and we can enjoy the beautiful tours through incredibly impressive and constantly changing landscapes without travel luggage on the bike.

The daily stages range from 110 km to a maximum of 240 km. The total mileage during the tour is about 1,100 km.

Experienced top tour guides lead the tour and show us some of the most beautiful and exciting roads in Croatia. And they also make sure that no one gets lost: for safety's sake, there is also a support vehicle ready to take a broken-down bike to the next port.

Secluded beaches and bays, picturesque coastal and mountain roads, idyllic villages, and impressive medieval towns - all this is waiting for YOU!

Our floating home is a motor sailer cruise ship of the category Premium with approx. 35 m in length. It has 18 fully air-conditioned guest cabins, either with double beds or two separate single beds. All cabins are of course equipped with private bathrooms and toilets, regardless of whether they are located on the main deck or the lower deck.

Cabins "on deck" are cabins on the main deck (the deck where you enter the ship), and cabins "below deck" are cabins in the hull of the ship. All cabins are outside cabins. The advantage of cabins on deck is that you have direct access from the main deck and more fresh air, while cabins below deck are often quieter. Cabins below deck usually have portholes.

Breakfast and dinner are taken in the "dining room", which with its bar is also available in the evening as a lounge for social gatherings.

The country we are visiting has many special features to offer us: Croatia is not a large country, but it is at the same time the Mediterranean and Central European, mountainous and flat, maritime and continental. In a relatively small area, we can find landscapes that would otherwise have to be sought in far-flung regions of Europe and the world: thus, in Croatia, we find a forested, indented coastline with a multitude of islands, well-preserved old Mediterranean towns with narrow streets and stone houses, but also green pastures along the coast with dry stone walls. The mountainous regions are adorned with vast forests, romantic lakes, and picturesque villages like in the Alps, but also rough, bare limestone cliffs with deep gorges, the hill country is crowned with vineyards, medieval castles, and fortresses. And we'll see some of it...!

Croatia Bike Cruise - You have the luxury of a great cruise ship and the experiences of a motorcycle tour. All this without having to pack your suitcase every day - your "hotel" is traveling with you!

Our exclusive travel program:

Day 1- Saturday: The arrival day Independent journey to Opatija

Already during the Danube monarchy, the "Curort Abbazia" belonged to the fashionable seaside resorts at the Adriatic Sea and still inspires today because of its beautiful parks and houses in Art Nouveau style. Who wants to come by car and motorcycle trailer: No problem! We can reserve guarded parking spaces near the harbor. Embarkation takes place in the early afternoon, the rest of the afternoon can be used for an exploration trip or just a short walk to the nearby center of Opatija.

First dinner together and the first night on board.

Day 2- Sunday: Opatija - Rab, 200 km

We leave our ship and the pleasant Opatija and ride past Rijeka, along the Croatian coastal road "Jadranska Magistrala" towards the south. Near Senj, we make the first detour into the Croatian hinterland and the nature park Velebit. Here we are surprised for the first time how the landscape changes so much within a few kilometers. We are also looking forward to the first great curvy stretch in the mountains with many, many curves and some hairpin bends until we reach the Magistrala again. Then we take the car ferry across the Velebit Channel to Rab.

Overnight stay in Rab.

Day 3- Monday: Rab - Zadar, 190 km

We take the car ferry back to the mainland and follow the coastal road to Karlobag, where we make our second detour into the hinterland and over the mountains. On a well-developed overland road, we cruise up to almost 950 m above sea level (we start at 0 m!), which is already the first highlight of the day! On this day tour, we cross the nature park Velebit to the north and are amazed by the change of landscape as soon as we are through the mountains. On the way back, there are again some bends ahead of us as we head towards our destination for the day: Zadar is situated on a narrow headland on the Adriatic Sea and the Zadar Channel and is separated from the mainland by a moat. The harbor is located directly at the culturally and historically important old town.

Day 4- Tuesday: Zadar - Pag-Mandre, 110 km

Today we make it a very comfortable and quiet day to relax. After a short detour to the island of Vir, we pass the bridge from the mainland to the island of Pag and cross half the island to our overnight port today: Mandre. We board our ship and take a nice afternoon trip along the coast of Pag, enjoying the flair and the air of the Adriatic coast. If you like, you can take out your swimsuit and swim around the boat!

Day 5- Wednesday: Pag - Krk, 240 km

Freshly rested, we set off on the longest leg of the journey: We pass the bridge from Pag back to the mainland and then follow the entire Magistrala from the southern end of the Velebit Channel up to the bridge that connects the island of Krk with the mainland. Almost 150 km of curve party along with one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world! We will remember this day for a long time. After crossing the Krk bridge, we ride directly to the port of the town that bears the same name as the island: Krk.

Day 6- Thursday: Krk - Cres - Rabac, 180 km

Ever done island hopping by motorcycle? Today we will ride on 3 islands! From Krk (1) we will take a car ferry to Cres (2), the longest of the islands in Kvarner Bay. And at noon we will stop for a break in a small fishing village on the island of Losinj (3). After that, we return to Cres and take another car ferry to Istria, the big peninsula in the west of Croatia. Overnight stay in the port of Rabac.

Day 7- Friday: Rabac - Opatija, 140 km

We have saved one of the biggest highlights for the last day: Those who like medieval castles and towns will get their money's worth today! We leave the coast again and head straight to the center of the Istrian hinterland, to the capital of Istria County, Pazin. After a stop with a view of the Mitterburg Castle, first mentioned in the 10th century, our route takes us on to the truffle stronghold of Istria, the town of Buzet. The old town of Buzet is situated on the top of a hill and is home to one of the most famous truffle restaurants in Istria. Who likes, can be spoiled here at noon with truffles. The highlight (in the truest sense of the word) is crossing the Učka Mountains, to which Opatija owes its evening freshness due to the fall winds from the lushly forested slopes. Narrow serpentines lead back to the Opatija Riviera, which we follow for the last few kilometers to our starting point, the port of Opatija. Last night together in Opatija.

Day 8- Saturday: Disembarkation, Farewell, and departure

Unfortunately, our extraordinary journey comes to an end today. After breakfast, we disembark the ship and set off on our journey home with many new memories and new friends. Additional nights in Opatija are possible on request!

We reserve the right to change the route of the motorcycle tour as well as the ship's route, especially due to weather conditions! In addition, the captain of the ship reserves the right to change the route in case of bad weather conditions.
