Breakfast - if offered by the hotels (A frank word on the subject of breakfast in the USA: We would like to point out that breakfast as an included service in American or Canadian hotels is not a matter of course. There are all different varieties of breakfast. Some hotels offer coffee and some kind of roll, toast or a piece of cake, plus maybe some jam. If one is lucky, there is some fruit or dairy products. Some accommodations only offer coffee with a coffee maker in the room. Other hotels offer a varied breakfast. Many hotels decide in the middle of the season to launch this service, to abolish it or even to change it. There is generally everywhere a possibility to buy breakfast for little money. We write in the services "Partial breakfast", because we can not guarantee which hotel all of a sudden decides for it or against it). |

An honest word among bikers: |
With the next lines we would like to prepare you in the best way for the adventure of your life. You are either about to book one of the most beautiful types of travel, or you have already done so. The biggest difference between our type of holiday and a general package tour is that you are actively involved. Riding a motorcycle is one of the best things in life. At least for us bikers. The focus of the trip is motorcycling through unique landscapes. We have designed the programs in such a way that both riding fun and experience are present in sufficient quantity. Team spirit and adaptation in the group are absolutely necessary just as you need to bring a certain basic fitness and experience so that we can reach the destination together happy and healthy. If you have any doubts about your health, fitness or experience levels, please contact us beforehand. We want to achieve the best holiday experience for you too. The daily stages are on average 250 - 400 kilometers long. That sounds a lot, but it can't be compared to the same route in Europe, considering that there are often 80 kilometers without passing through a town and a whole day without traffic lights during the program. There are also hardly any traffic jams. We are rarely in the saddle for more than five hours throughout the day. We reach our daily destination between 4 - 6 p.m., depending on the season. Depending on the weather and daily temperatures, it can happen that we have to leave a little earlier or reach our daily destination later. However, if we want to experience a picture book sunset with full intention, it will be a little later. |

Insurance: |
We generally recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance. |

If the 1/2 double room is not available at that very moment, then we will confirm a single room first. As soon as we have a booking for the second half of the room, we will immediately credit you the single room surcharge. |

Description
Route 66 is not just a road. It is a lifestyle and a cult. The road builders of the Old West planned and built "US Highway 66" as early as 1926. In 1938, it was finally completely paved. At one point the mass migration to the "golden west" had begun. Thousands of cars - bumper to bumper - with entire families and all of their belongings tried to find their luck in the west. Many of them returned frustrated or settled somewhere else. Our journey through this sad and romantic history leads us along seemingly endless landscapes through the most diverse areas of the USA. We visit historic hotels, motels, gas stations, classic diners as well as restaurants. Car wrecks are everywhere to the left and right of the road. Some of the classic routes and historic landmarks have been restored and left in their original 50's condition. Some stretches are now interstates to cover long distances more quickly. We stick to the original Route 66 route wherever possible.
Come with us on a historic journey through the USA and "get your own kicks on Route 66"!
Tour itinerary:
Day 01: Flight to Chicago (IL)
The tour begins with your flight from the departure city (connecting flight available) to Chicago. Your tour guide will be waiting for you at the airport and will organize your transfer to your well-located mid-range hotel in the Chicago area. Afterward, during a leisurely welcome drink, he will brief the group on the next day's itinerary. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight stay in the Chicago/St. Charles/Rosemont area.
Day 02: Chicago (IL)
To get the best impressions of the "Windy City", as Chicago is also called, you have the opportunity to take part in a guided city tour first thing in the morning. Experience the city on an escorted tour in a double-decker bus, take pictures at the starting sign of Route 66 and visit the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower, from which you have a fantastic view over the city. The evening is at your leisure. Overnight stay in Chicago.
Day 03: Chicago - Bloomington (IL)Your personal "Route 66" tour experience begins today. First thing in the morning your luggage will be loaded into the support vehicle. Afterward, we organize the transfer to the rental station, where we will take over our motorcycles. After leaving the city, we will already see the first few parts of the old Route 66, which can sporadically be found next to the new route. We cruise along the Pontiac Trail through the coal mining areas of Illinois. The attractions on today's route are so numerous that we have to limit ourselves to selected highlights, such as the Launchpad Drive Inn in Wilmington or the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame & Museum in, Pontiac, IL where we will take one of the most beautiful photos of the tour. Of course, we will see other famous sights along the road. Overnight stay in Bloomington, IL. Tour length approx. 225 Km
Day 04: Bloomington - St. Louis (IL/MO)
Numerous sights of Route 66 are a part of today´s program. Among the most important stops are the famous Dixie Truck Stop and Abraham Lincon's Tomb, the famous Auburn Brick road, and Litchfield, the Ariston Café. Passing the historic "Chain of the Rocks" bridge we continue to St. Louis on the Mississippi River. The city's landmark is the Gateway Arch, from which you can get a good overview. The elevator ride (optional) high into the arch and the Lewis & Clark Museum is worth a visit. A steamboat ride (Optional) across the Mississippi River is also recommended. Tonight's overnight stay is in St. Louis. Tour length approx. 300 Km
Day 05: St. Louis - Springfield (MO)
Our route today leads to the so-called "The Middle of Everywhere" to Springfield, MO. We ride along the northern Ozark Mountains via Rolla. None of these mountains are particularly high, but you get a breathtaking view of the steep slopes. These are thick vegetations with oaks, elms, hickories, and the beautiful Royal Redbud trees that offer a very special atmosphere in the fall. Along the way, we'll visit sleepy yet well-known towns, such as Devils Elbow, Lebanon, and Conway, in deepest Missouri. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the very interesting stalactite cave of Fantastic Caverns (possibly the next day) on the so-called Jeep Train. Overnight stay in Springfield, MO. Tour length approx. 350 Km
Day 06: Springfield - Kansas - Tulsa (MO/KS/OK)
First, we visit the Gay Parita Sinclair Station, one of the famous Route 66 gas stations. Then we ride through Carthage with its very nice courthouse, as well as through the mining town of Webb City before passing through the Sunflower State of Kansas, which has the shortest distance of the 66 at just 20 km. The March Rainbow Arch Bridge is one of the attractions in Kansas. Arriving in Oklahoma we visit the old town of Miami and see the famous "Coleman Theater". The US star Will Rogers (1879-1935) performed here regularly and is considered one of the fathers of Route 66 in Oklahoma. Other highlights today include Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park and the Blue Whale of Catoosa. Tonight's overnight stay is in Tulsa. Tour length approx. 340 Km
Day 07: Tulsa - Oklahoma City (OK)
Today we face a short stage through the former land of indigenous people, but this stretch is enormously impressive and very characteristic of Route 66. We explore this rural state with its cattle ranches, western hat stores, custom cowboy boot stores, stables, and auction halls. Today´s highlights also include the Rock Cafe Stroud, Arcadia Round Barn, Arcadia, and Pops on 66. In Oklahoma City, we have a scheduled time for an optional visit to the "National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum" which is "a must" for anyone traveling Route 66. Overnight stay in Oklahoma City. Tour length approx. 200 Km
Day 08: Oklahoma City - Amarillo (OK/TX)
Oklahoma is rightly called "America's Heartland" and for all Route 66 travelers, it is definitely worthwhile to visit this place. After leaving Oklahoma City, we pass Clinton - the "heart and soul" of Route 66 where one of the most beautiful Route 66 museums awaits us. In Texola we cross the border to Texas. The U-Drop Inn, one of the old original Route 66 gas stations and motels in the oil town of Shamrock, the Devils Rope Museum in McLean, the leaning water tower as well as the 58 m large cross (the largest cross in the western hemisphere) in Groom, are some of the many highlights of today's stage before we reach Amarillo. A famous Route 66 specialty may be tasted by the hungriest among you: a "Texas-style" steak such as the 4 1/2 pound T-bone at Big Texan Steakhouse. Of course, you'll also find food for regular appetites on the menu here. Overnight stay in Amarillo. Tour length approx. 430 Km
Day 09: Amarillo - Santa Fe (TX/NM)
Our first destination today is the Harley -Davidson® Dealer and then we will stop at the famous Cadillac Ranch. This monument, which is meant to remind us of the glorious old days of Route 66 and the freedom that the automobile brought us, is represented by ten Cadillacs anchored in the ground. The angle at which the vehicles are buried is said to correspond with the angle of incline of the Pyramids of Giza. Here we are at the exact halfway point of our tour: at Adrian Texas Midpoint Route 66 we are 1139 miles from Chicago and 1139 miles from Los Angeles. Passing endless cattle ranches, in the morning we reach the border with the state of New Mexico at Glenrio, where we gain an hour. From Tucumcari and Santa Rosa, we continue through the High Plains of Comanche country along the pre-1937 alignment of Route 66 to Santa Fe, where we will spend the night. Tour length approx. 450 Km
Day 10: Santa Fe - Madrid - Albuquerque - Gallup (NM)
Today we ride through New Mexico, also called the Land of Enchantment. The dominant colors of the beautiful landscapes on the way are purple and blood red. In the morning we first head to Madrid, the small town that became famous in the movie "Wild Hogs / Born to be Wild" with John Travolta and Tim Allen. We will reach the historic Plaza of Albuquerque just in time for lunch. Among other things, Albuquerque is famous for its annual Balloon Festival, which takes place in October. Afterward, we will cross the famous Rio Grande. We reach the final destination of today's stage riding the wide roads - the old railroad and the Natives' town of Gallup in New Mexico. Overnight stay in Gallup. Tour length approx. 350 Km
Day 11: Gallup - Petrified Forest NP - Winslow - Williams (NM/AZ)
Soon we will reach the New Mexico-Arizona border, and a little later we reach the entrance to the beautiful Petrified Forest National Park with many very interesting photo stops. Not far from the southern exit of the park is Holbrook, where the famous Wigwam Motel is located. Afterward, we stop at the old "Jackrabbit Trading Post", then we visit Winslow, already sung by the Eagles in their hit song "Take it Easy". Passing Twin Arrows and Flagstaff we now reach the end of today's stage, the small town of Williams. Here is still a lot of the old west flair with the historic houses and the old entertainment district directly on Route 66. The next two nights are in Williams. Tour length approx. 410 Km
Day 12: Williams - Grand Canyon - Williams (AZ)
Today you either put your feet up and have fun in Williams or you enjoy the Grand Canyon. In the morning you have the opportunity to take a helicopter tour over the breathtaking Grand Canyon before we ride from Williams to this unofficial wonder of the world. Here you have a choice, either the longer tour via the south rim of the Grand Canyon, Cameron, Flagstaff, and back to Williams, or after a short visit to the National Park back to Route 66. Overnight stay in Williams. Tour length: approx. 210 - 365 Km
Day 13: Williams - Seligman - Oatman - Laughlin (AZ/NV)
Early in the morning, we leave Williams on Route 66, to cross the Interstate briefly to Crookton Road, a newly restored section of Route 66. In the small town of Seligman, we visit the barber store of the probably most famous barber in the world, Angel Delgadillo. Angel is also one of the co-founders of the Historic Route 66 Association and is considered the father of historic Route 66. We then ride through the Hualapai Reservation of the natives and visit the General Store in Hackberry with its classic cars. We spend our lunch break in Kingman, where we can also visit the interesting Route 66 Museum. Via Cool Springs and the Sitegreave Pass, we reach the small western town of Oatman along a winding road, which is a favorite stop for many motorcyclists. Apart from the tourist traffic, it seems as if time has stopped here in the wild west. The wild burros there, as well as the real cowboys, are looking forward to your visit. In the afternoon we reach the Colorado River and the gambling town of Laughlin in Nevada, where we will spend the night. Tour length approx. 310 Km
Day 14: Laughlin - Amboy - Bagdad - Barstow (CA)
In the morning we again ride through the Mojave Desert and back on the old Route 66. Riding via Goofs we reach the famous Roys Café in Amboy, where a stop is an absolute must. Many of the small towns on Route 66 have disappeared nowadays. We then ride via Ludlow, visiting the Bagdad Cafe on the way, the filming location of the cult movie "Out of Rosenheim". Our destination today is Barstow. Overnight stay in Barstow. Tour length approx. 295 Km
Day 15: Barstow - San Gabriel Mountains - Los Angeles (CA)
At the end of the day, we will ride one of the most beautiful motorcycle routes on our tour. The road leads us over the famous Angel's Crest Highway through the San Gabriel Mountains. This route has over 80 km almost only curves and winds over mountains and through canyons. Our lunch break will be at Newcombs Ranch, the well-known biker hangout of the region. Topanga Canyon is another highlight on our route before we reach the famous coastal road, Highway 1. Before we reach Los Angeles - the final destination of our trip, we pass Santa Monica, where the end (or the beginning in the other direction) of Route 66 is marked. We will drop off our motorcycles at our local rental station and from there we will organize the transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay in Los Angeles/LAX. Tour length approx. 335 Km
Day 16: Los Angeles
This day is at your leisure. In the morning you have the possibility to participate in a guided city tour (optional) with a local guide (advance reservation required). You will be picked up from the hotel by an approx. 12 passenger van and start your city tour. From Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, through Hollywood, and back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Los Angeles.
Day 17: Return flight
Today it is time to say goodbye. During the day, you will be transferred to LAX Airport in Los Angeles and fly back home. (Transfer connection possible).
Day 18: Arrival in Europe
Arrival at your departure point. End of the trip.
