Description
On the first day on the moto, a longer ascent through a barren, sometimes alpine landscape takes you to the main ridge of the Geghama mountain range at 3200m, past Mt Spitakasar at 3552m, with a unique view of Lake Sevan in the east and up to Ararat in the west. On the descent to Lake Sevan we will make a detour to the volcanic cone of Armaghan 2829m and down to the crater lake (bathing is still under consideration (2800m).
North of Lake Sevan the tour continues over mountain meadows and through forests, up the mountains and back down to the valley or along the ridge at a level between 650 and 3200m. Just 6% of the route has neither ascent nor descent.
On the way we pass the old fortress Lori Berd and a side trip to one of the most popular sights in Armenia, the highest and most water-rich waterfall in the country, the Trchkan Waterfall (UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site).
Before EnduroMania in Armenia is nearing its end and we reach Jerevan again, we visit the volcanic cone Aragaz at 3200m and enjoy the unique panoramic view over almost half of Armenia. In the east there is the Geghama mountain range, which we crossed at the beginning, deep down Jerevan and in the west the mighty Ararat, the mountain of longing of the Armenians and landing place of Noah's Ark.
At the end of the tour we would like to express our praise and respect to the Armenian tour guides for the elaboration of this magnificent offroad adventure.
Request:
EnduroMania in Armenia is the craze for off-road freaks. Riding is done with light and agile sport enduros. The degree of difficulty is medium to difficult and therefore only suitable for experienced riders. With approx. 100km offroad per day, which means approx. 6 - 8 hours riding time, a good portion of fitness is required.
More than 99% of the off-road riding is done on unpaved roads, lanes, tracks and open terrain with gradients of up to 30%. The largest part leads through lonely landscapes, far away from any civilization, let alone traffic.
The tour is led by a local English-speaking, on request also German-speaking, guide and accompanied by a support vehicle for the luggage and one or the other accompanying person.
