Description
From Table Mountain we head to the southernmost tip of Africa, Cape L'Agulhas, where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. On the way there, we pass Hermanus, which is recommended by many as the Mecca for whale watching in South Africa. We continue east along the Garden Route and cross the Bloukrans Bridge. This is the site of the world's highest commercial bungee jump (216m). Now we reach the Eastern Cape Province with Port Elizabeth. Nearby we visit the Addo Elephant National Park, where we can see the Big 5 - lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalos - on a game drive.
Continuing our journey we come to Oudtshoorn where we make another stop. Oudtshoorn is the ostrich world capital. Here we learn more about these large birds, explore the stalactite caves Cango Caves and then continue through the Little Karroo. Via Route 62, said to be the longest wine road in the world, along the northern slopes of the Langeberg Mountain Range, we return to the heart of the wine region, Franchhoek, the French corner of South Africa.
After discovering some of the best routes in Southern Africa over the last 11 days, our Magical Garden Route ends back in Cape Town and there will be plenty to talk about on our return.
