Description

It offers the traveler an extraordinary experience and should be on the "bucket list" of every enduro freak who wants to experience the almost endless gravel pads (that's the name of the unpaved roads here). To relax in the evening you can admire the Milky Way in the clean air and clear sky.

At the beginning of the Enduro trip through Namibia, we head north to the Erongo region, known for its picturesque landscape and abundance of wildlife. Erindi Private Game Reserve, home to 4 of the famous Big 5 and a variety of other wildlife, is our 1st stop. Erindi, meaning "place of water", is the custodian of the most significant number of endemic species and several conservation projects. Here we treat ourselves to 2 nights and explore the game reserve on safari tours in open jeeps.

Passing the Erongo Mountains, with a visit to a Bushman village, and the Spitzkoppe, our next destination takes us to the harbor town of Swakopmund, Namibia's most popular seaside resort, a well-kept city between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert, still marked by its colonial past.

From Swakopmund southward, we cross the Namib-Naukluft Park, the largest nature reserve in Namibia, one of the largest in the world, and now also a World Heritage Site (Namib Sand Sea). Before reaching Sesriem, where we stay for 2 nights, we cross the "Tropic of Capricorn". On an early morning desert tour, from Sesriem, we ride to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, 2 clay pans surrounded by gigantic dunes, up to 300m high and among the highest in the world. Dead camel thorn trees in them, more than 600 years old, give a surreal sight.

NamibRand Nature Reserve, established to protect and preserve the unique ecology and wildlife of the southwestern Namib Desert, is also a dark sky reserve and is one of the best hotspots for stargazers. The NamibRand International Dark Sky Reserve was only the second place on Earth to be awarded Gold Tier status for its exceptionally dark skies.

After the unique view of the Southern Cross and the Milky Way, we ride again on earthly pads via Bette to Aus, where many wild horses living in the desert can still be found.

Via Seeheim we reach another UNESCO World Heritage Site, a magnificent natural wonder, the Fish River Canyon. After the Grand Canyon, it is said to be the 2nd largest on earth, the largest in Africa in any case. There are several opinions about its formation: Geologists say it was formed when the ancient continent of Gondwana broke apart, but the San are convinced that it was the dragon Kouteign Kooru.

At the Orange River, it is called "So long Namibia" and "Sawubona South Africa".

Through the Namaqualand, a semi-arid region known for turning into a blooming wonderland for a short time every spring (August, September) we reach the wild rugged Cederberg Mountains with their bizarre rock formations. Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, and the Cape of Good Hope round off the tour. On Chapmans Peak Drive we cruise towards the end of the Enduro trip through Namibia and South Africa.

Arriving in Cape Town we enjoy a beer or perhaps a South African wine and the colorful hustle and bustle and ambiance at the V&A Waterfront and reminisce a little about the tour.

Optional (not included): As an alternative to the desert tour, you can also experience a spectacular safari in a hot air balloon over the Namib dune sea, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Read more in the attachment.

Hot Air Balloon Safari over the Namib Dune Sea

Experience a spectacular hot air balloon inflation at sunrise in the oldest desert in the world and embark on the flight of a lifetime. ...

From the best platform and in the most romantic way, float for an hour with the winds over sand seas and mountains, endless plays of shadows and light. Your destination? The dunes of Sossusvlei or the splendor of the desert.

After landing, you'll enjoy an "Out of Africa" style champagne breakfast served in the middle of nowhere.

Your pilot will present you with a flight certificate before you take a leisurely ride through nature back to the meeting point.

It's an experience like no other, the experience of a lifetime.
