Description

The Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains are justifiably among the most popular destinations for bikers. Winding roads and interesting routes lead through graceful and varied landscapes on both sides of the Rhine.

Experience with us relaxed the most beautiful routes and more about the culture and changeful, unfortunately not always peaceful history of the region.

During the relaxed daily stages there is enough time for entertaining explorations of towns and villages, for diverse culinary discoveries.

With this new tour, we offer you the opportunity to discover both the Vosges and the Black Forest on two riding days on both sides of the Rhine.

Riding highlights of the tours in the Vosges are the Route des Crêtes (Vosges Ridge Road), the Route des Vins d'Alsace (oldest wine road in France) and passes like the Grand Ballon, the Col des Bagenelles or the Col de la Schlucht. Of course, sights such as the monastery Le Mont Saint Odile or the castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg as well as visits to e.g. the picturesque towns of Kaysersberg and Riquewihr should not be missed.

In the Black Forest, wonderful curves and views await you along one of the most beautiful tourist roads of the Black Forest, the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse and the exciting former mountain race track at the Schauinsland. You will experience mountains like the Feldberg and the Kandel, lakes like the Titisee, the Schluchsee and also the Mummelsee. For these experiences you can strengthen yourself with culinary delights like Black Forest ham and Black Forest cake.

The starting point of our daily motorcycle tours is a family-run hotel in the Lahr area. It offers us good Baden cuisine in the evenings during our motorcycle tour.

Program, hotel and route changes are reserved.

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Meeting point in the Lahr area (individual arrival).

If you arrive individually, all participants will arrive at the hotel in the Lahr area by 5:00 pm. At dinner we will get to know each other and your tour guide will brief you on the tour days ahead, during which we will experience the Vosges and the Black Forest together.

Overnight stay: Tour center in the Lahr area

Day 2 - The dream road of the Vosges, the Route des Crêtes

After breakfast, your tour guide will brief you on the upcoming stage, which will first take you to the Kaiserstuhl region and then over the Texas Pass.

At Breisach on the Rhine, we change sides of the Rhine and gain a brief impression of the imposing military architecture of the baroque fortified town of Neuf-Brisach opposite.

The Route des Crêtes, the Vosges Ridge Road, which then lies ahead of us, is one of the most impressive mountain roads in France. The scenic Route des Crêtes runs along the main ridge of the southern Vosges almost entirely at an altitude of 1,200 meters. It was originally built by French troops during the First World War as a supply road. It runs for 75 km from Thann in the south via Cernay, Grand Ballon, Hohneck, the Col de la Schlucht to the Col du Bonhomme in the north. The route passes several sites of the First World War, one of which, the Hartmannswillerkopf, we will pause briefly.

After leaving the Vosges ridge road, the typical Alsatian village of Ribeauvillé awaits us for a short tour and is sure to have a small regional specialty in store for refreshment before we make our way back to our hotel.

After this intensive day of riding, we will certainly enjoy dinner at the hotel and will have a lot to talk about.

Daily distance: approx. 280 km

Day 3 - Through the curvy southern Black Forest

The daily briefing after breakfast has already become routine, today you will be prepared for the ride through the winding southern Black Forest with its mountains and lakes.

Shortly after the start you will climb up the Kandel, with 1,241 meters one of the highest elevations in the central Black Forest, where you will be rewarded for the ascent with a great view.

Before a morning coffee, the guide has then set the ascent to Freiburg's local mountain, the Schauinsland and that over the longest and most winding mountain race track in Germany to date.

Passing the Feldberg, the highest peak in the Black Forest at 1,493 meters, the tour then takes a more leisurely route, first to Schluchsee and then to Titisee, where we fortify ourselves for the rest of the journey in a manner typical of the region.

Anyone who travels in the Black Forest cannot avoid them, and so of course we also take a look at one of the largest cuckoo clocks in the world, while we glide along winding, often little-traveled routes through the magnificent landscape of the Black Forest back to our hotel.

At the hotel, we can review this day of riding, but also the entire tour through the cultural landscape of the Black Forest and the Vosges, over dinner and a drink or two.

Overnight stay: Tour center in the Lahr area

Daily distance: approx. 290 km

Day 4 - Through the Rhine plain to Alsace

After breakfast and the day's briefing, we will first ride on well-maintained roads through the Rhine plain towards the European city of Strasbourg, cross the Rhine there and then to the Mémorial de l'Alsace-Moselle, which shows the history of the Alsatians and Moselle people from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 to the present day.

Through the wooded mountain roads of the Vosges we continue to the typical Alsatian village of Kaysersberg, where, after a short tour, we enjoy a typical meal before we roll along the Alsace Wine Route from one beautiful village to another and at least take a closer look at Riquewihr.

The subsequent ride up to and especially the view from the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg over the Rhine plain below us to the Black Forest on the other side are truly impressive and will remain in our memories for a long time.

But at the latest when we reach the "Holy Mountain of Alsace", the Mont Saint-Odile, we will have to decide which of the views is the more impressive.

The best way to discuss this is to return to our hotel and enjoy a good meal and a drink.

Overnight stay: Tour center in the Lahr area

Daily distance: approx. 300 km

Day 5 - The north of the Black Forest

After breakfast and the day's briefing, we will take a trip back in time through the valleys and narrow mountain roads of the Black Forest to the 60's, even if the price of gasoline unfortunately does not fit anymore. Let us surprise you!

A short time later, your guide will explain to you why the marketplace in Freudenstadt, at 219 x 216 meters, is the largest enclosed marketplace in Germany.

Then it's off to lunch at a biker restaurant known in the region.

Over mountains, through open valleys and dense forests, past various dams, you will then reach the first section of the Black Forest High Road, which is not only known among bikers for its great curves and views, but also for numerous speed controls.

We can then invest the travel budget "saved" by an adapted riding style at Lake Mummel in one of the probably best Black Forest gateaux or in similarly good Black Forest ham.

Thus strengthened, we then certainly manage a short climb on foot to the ruins of the monastery Allerheiligen and a few kilometers further also to the castle Staufenberg, where we are once again rewarded with a great view!

Whether the soling of the biker boots then also allows a short walk through the beautiful town of Gengenbach, we decide together on the spot!

In any case, after this day of riding, we will certainly have plenty to talk about over a leisurely dinner at our hotel!

Overnight stay: Tour center in the Lahr area

Daily distance: approx. 290 km

Day 6 - Farewell and individual return journey

Once again we have breakfast together before we say goodbye to each other and start our individual return journeys, all hopefully with nice memories of a great community experience, and great tour days!
