Three riding days without luggage

It opens at the base hotel in Heiligenstadt, where the group comes together over dinner on the first evening. From there three riding days run through Franconian Switzerland without the luggage having to come along each morning: gently sweeping curves through shady forests, with pilgrimage churches, castles and palaces in between. The stages run between 240 and 280 kilometres and demand secure handling in tight hairpins. You ride your own machine, and there is no support vehicle.

Highlights

Castles and Monasteries

The Vierzehnheiligen pilgrimage church, Veste Coburg and Burg Lauenstein all sit on one single stage. Between the Staffelberg and the Kleinziegenfelder valley, winding roads and centuries of history take turns all day long.

Brewery-Rich Franconia

The region holds the world's highest brewery density. Each evening you sample regional beers straight from the source, before the next stage through Franconian Switzerland comes round the following morning.

The City Triangle

The way runs through the historic triangle of Bamberg, Bayreuth and Nuremberg. Between the three cities lie gently sweeping curves, shady forests and views of mighty castles from past centuries.

Curves in Upper Franconia

The Rauher Kulm, Friedenfels and the Bayreuth Hermitage all sit on the third day. Stages of 240 to 280 kilometres run mostly on good asphalt, with the occasional more demanding section for confident riders.

Hersbrucker Switzerland

This section crosses Waldstein and Sanspareil, past Schloss Seehof, the Giechburg and the Gügel. Tight hairpins and narrow bends demand solid riding skills but repay them with wide and varied views.
