Lucca, Florence, Siena & Elba, 10 Days

It starts with your individual arrival at the meeting point in the Lucca and Pistoia area, west of Florence. Over the first shared dinner you meet the team and your fellow riders, before the leader runs through every detail of the route.

The first riding day opens with a real high point: the leaning tower of Pisa. Winding back roads and the old town of Lucca round off this 230-kilometre day loop in style, with the evening back at the same hotel.

Winding detours stretch what is only a 50-kilometre link into a stage of 220 kilometres. You reach the hotel for the next two nights only in the afternoon, with the luggage already safely stowed in the support vehicle.

A rest day without machines: a local guide leads you on foot through the Renaissance treasures of Florence, where works by Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei and Michelangelo sit closer together than anywhere else. Lunch is included.

Winding roads through eastern and central Tuscany carry the group into the Chianti country. Brief cultural stops along the way show the land and its people, and the evening ends with a shared dinner and the famous Chianti wine. Two nights at the same hotel, 220 kilometres.

This loop follows great roads through central Tuscany to the Piazza del Campo in the heart of the medieval old town of Siena. Anyone who wants to can climb the 400-plus steps of the town hall tower for a fantastic view. Second night in the Chianti country, 240 kilometres.

Before the ferry to Elba you explore the Maremma in the south of the region. Napoleon's former residence lies just 10 kilometres off the mainland and surprises with coves, winding roads and a landscape of porous volcanic rock and high peaks, 250 kilometres.

A free day on Elba: a rest day by the sea, a short afternoon loop or a full circuit right across the island – the choice is entirely yours, anywhere between 0 and 150 kilometres. The charm of the Tuscan archipelago stays with you.

After the ferry back to the mainland the way leads through the historic old town of Volterra, before the starting point is reached again. At the shared farewell evening everyone runs back over the past days, 200 kilometres.

The final day means saying goodbye for good. With plenty of memories of Pisa, Florence, the Chianti country, Siena and Elba, you head home under your own steam after around 1,400 kilometres of riding.
